so, i left about 5 years ago and at that time, the official ruling on number of members was a little over 6 million.
i google jw out of boredom the other day and find they are now claiming 8 million members.
sooooo.... hold on 2 million increase in 5 years?
Even though retention might be 2/3 in the US (as shown by studies), it does not necessarily mean it is the same worldwide...
as with the scribes and pharisees, there are a number of unwritten rules that witnesses are supposed to follow.
here's a couple : "worldly" kids in society depictions are shown quite often wearing their baseball caps backwards.
jehovah's witness youths would not want to imitate that "look".
interestingly, this film has an r-rating in the us, whereas in norway it is allowed for all to watch.... most films have either a 11 year or 15 year age limit.
however, this is rated as acceptable for all...
i've noticed increasing amounts of jw's are coming off fb and deactivating completely.
all with the same reason which they post about at lenght which is that they wwant to focus more on their spiritual life and not have the distraction of fb.. have i missed something or is this just a coincidence?.
If I still was a JW and on Facebook I would have posted nice travel photos and happy family gatherings cause I had plenty....
talked with a pioneer recently, she was recounting her first experience with cart witnessing.. she brought the subject up, was going on & on & on & on about how wonderful the experience was, and how great, and how she enjoyed it so much, and it was so wonderful, and oh jehovah's blessing, and on and on and on...... a few questions to her revealed what really happened:.
-- a jw who owns a small restaurant in a strip mall allows jws to set up their cart outside his restaurant.
-- the restaurant is tucked pretty far out of the way, not prominent at all.
