Jehovah's people are the happiest people on earth!
by Coded Logic inso this afternoon my roommate and i decided to go grab some dinner from the local chipotle and, as we live only a short distance from the franchise, we decided it was a good idea to walk.
little did i know that the j-dubs district convention here in sacramento was just getting out (the auditorium is literally smack in the middle of downtown and its attendees have to park in garages scattered a couple blocks away in every direction) so men in cheap suits and women in unflattering dress' were walking all over the place as though someone had antagonized their ungodly ant hill.
and, for sacramento, this of course is the complete opposite of the normative - that is to say, our streets are usually filled with well dressed, immaculately groomed, 'i know exactly where i'm going' government officials that monopolize the state capitol m-f. .

How come that witnesses are described this way: men in cheap suits and women in unflattering dress whereas in Scandinavia the witnesses are described as being modern, yet modest but never in the way stated above... Do American witnesses have poor taste compared to their Scandinavian counterparts? -

Geoffrey Jackson's Golden Apple watch INVESTIGATED
by C0ntr013r ini went through the original footage to get a good look at the watch.. from these pictures we can probably say that it is a apple watch and that it has a golden color.
the color on the pin is black, and the band is white, grey, silvery or beige.. .
the pin is in the exact place for it to be a apple watch.. only apple watch edition have the gold color.

Well, no matter who has the watch I think it would be next to crazy to have such an expensive watch... I guess it has been given to him. -

Contradicting Governing Body Members
by Illuminated inso we've heard from three different governing body members this year regarding child sexual abuse.. the latest one on the rc admitted there's a sexual abuse problem within the cult, yet lett and morris swept the dirt under the carpet stating they have a great reputation as far as sex abuse is concerned, and pointed their fingers at "apostate lies".
.
i'm left totally confused at the contradiction of this "organization"..

I guess a youtube segment might turn up where these contradicting statements are shown -

JWs are against corporal punishment of children in the countries where this is banned, e.g. Norway and other Scandinavian countries... All references to such have been rephrased in WT literature for decades. -

He definitely got it wrong with this:
To actually say he has no knowledge of that an inactive person caught celebrating xmas or bday would be DF is bull.
After four years of inactivity (and having no elder visits in those years) my ex-wife got a visit from two elders who had got information from a concerned publisher that had observed christmas lights in her window. They definitely wanted to investigate and thus starting a process ultimately leading to a judicial case. However, we saved them the efforts and wrote them a letter (I joined forced with her) the same night stating we no longer considered ourselves to be Jehovah’s witnesses (however not using the term DA).

What is their official explanation for not allowing beards?
by keyser soze ini ask because my gf, who knows all about my jw upbringing, convinced me to grow a goatee, just to see how it looks.
we both decided it looked good so i decided to keep it.
i tried to explain to her that as a jw, i wasn't allowed to grow one, but then drew a blank when she asked me why.

One cannot say that beards are banned. In some ways it is also a cultural issue.
When attending an assembly jn Denmark, one of the Elders giving a talk had a beard and several in the audience as well.
In Sweden and Norway however, beards are not accepted among witnesses.
Also, beards are common among JWs men in countries like the Netherlands and Ireland (this is something I have been told, but Denmark I know for sure).

Interestingly, in many languages the term shun cannot be translated. In scandinavian languages the term is invariably translated in terms of have nothing to do with, avoid etc... -
