I also found it exagerrated... at quite a few points. It would have been much more credible if told in a more loudspoken, accurate way.

The worldwide unity of Jehovah's Witness
by paul from cleveland ineverything i read on this website and elsewhere indicates that the witness are extremely united in doctrine and practices worldwide.
when i'm reading comments here, i have no idea whether the person is posting from the us or some other part of the world (unless they say so).
everyone's experience seems to be the same wherever they live.

I have been to some 40 countries and have associatied with witnesses in most of them.
There is a remarkably unity in beliefs. I remember once preaching in Kenya with a sudanese brother. He started a sentence and I followed with the next while preaching... Of course as a result of a unified and conformed teaching system.
A specialist on JW (non-witness of course, a scholar) in Scandinavia stated that the JWs are probably the most unified and confirm religious society in the world.
What I did note has ben cultural differences like the following tidbits:
Denmark: brothers are allowed to have beards, even up to giving talks at district conventions.
Sweden: witnesses generally do not dance at weddings.
Germany: beer was served at assembly hall dedication in Munich (been told so)
Italy: sisters should not wear long shirts, even in Italian watchtowers sometimes the photos was altered to confirm with this pracsise (been told so))
Great britain: was told by a sister that she wanted to attend the "labour class" congregation insted of the "posh" one she belonged to. Attended meetings in a cong. where all youngersters were sent to boarding schools.
USA: much more emphasis on submission in marriage etc...
Norway: spanking not allowed since 80s. Governmantal support (repayment of tax money)
Grenada: us witnesses schocked when told this.... "What are parents expected to do then?). Gov sup also hcocking
Grenada: native witness: she used "charismatic" christian expressions and blamed everything on Satan. RArely heard in Scandinavia.
Eastern Europe: very spiritual witnesses, serious believers.
Greece: brother had talk without tie/jacket.

Moscow officials to evict Jehovah's Witnesses from Moscow estate
by Mythbuster inhttp://en.rian.ru/russia/20100203/157764392.html.
officials plan to evict a branch of the jehovah's witnesses from an 18th century estate in northern moscow, the prefect of moscow's northern district, oleg mitvol, said on wednesday.. mitvol claimed the mikhalkovo estate with nearly 100 hectares was illegally privatized by a moscow cotton factory and later sold to the jehovah's witnesses.
the estate is estimated to be worth $350 million.. "we have been receiving continual complaints from veterans that the historic building on mikhalkovskaya street currently houses a branch of the jehovah's witnesses," he added.. russia considers jehovah's witnesses a religious sect and its activities therefore illegal.

BTW, although the term "branch" is being used, this propety is a Kingdom Hall, e.g. the English Congregation has its meetings there. The Russian branch is situated in Solnetsnoye, close to St. Petersburg.
BTW: it is often said that the a countrys respect for human rights, esp. religious freedom, may be judged on how they treat JWs... That does not give Russia a very good image at all.

In fact I remember him, he was a very nice tour guide when I was visiting the Kenyan Bethel in the mid 80s.
He was handsome and wore jeans (which I though was kind of strange cause one did not expect Bethelits to dress that lax while performing an official duty

Another JW Report from Haiti - this is sick....
by Bonnie_Clyde inhttp://www.ultimatebiblereferencelibrary.com/haiti_disaster__17.1.10_.pdf .
two paragraphs were really bad:.
"we suspect not a few of our young brothers and sisters attending universities may have died when those buildings crashed to the grounds with everyone in them.
-
InquiryMan
I also read the report and found it highly unnecessary of the person writing it to make such an ignorant remark.. That, however, do not destroy the fact that they do help... And JWs are humans too, when they are helped, other charities can concentrate and helping others thus more are helped altogether..

What's the logic behind 'Quick-build' KHs?
by african GB Member indo they really have to build khs in 2 days?.
how safe are those khs?.
.

I once read a booklet published by a non-witness journalist on quick builds. I think it was published in Canada and entitled "Weekend Miracle". It was stated that it all started as a "grass root" project in the Mid West.

why do some constantly state that the study editions are so dubious as the witnesses are intent on hiding them... After all, they are accessible to all for mp3 and pdf downloading at their website....

still it would give a non-witness who might read this an impression that the witnesses are far more tolerant than in reality.
