  jws have always had a problem with neutrality:.

  1) during ww i they encouraged via the magazines to buy war bonds, i.e., liberty bonds, as it was then known, thus actively supporting the war effort (search, under "war bonds").. 2) during ww ii, the australian branch also invested heavily in war bonds in order for the ban to be lifted.

  after the war, they had to repent, before jehovah could bless their efforts again.. 3) more recently the wts has invested in companies with defense contracts.. 4) membership of the un as ngo (1992-2001).

  Do JWs treat women like second-class citizens, like their husbands' property?

  as an elder, i recall that the husband always had to be present on any judicial committee meeting involving his wife, but that the wife was not to be present on judicial committee meetings involving her husband.

  has this changed?

  if not, isn't that treating women as lesser persons than their husbands?.

  I guess it is also influenced by cultural factors. In USA, fundamentalism is far stronger than e.g. Scandinavia.

  Here female pioneers are written to in their own names. Also quite a few couples I knew were pretty equal and quite a women jokely states that such guidance goes into on ear and out of the other... Here I think it was more noticable if a sister was acting submissive.. most would then think that the husband was too dominating etc...

  New DVD, 1st century drama

  there has been a lot of focus on the dvd intended for children.. however, another dvd was also released, a close to an hour drama depiticting the tale of two christian families in jerusalem.. has anyone seen it, or has parts or all of it been uploaded on youtube or a link providing a downloading or something similar?.

  it is written on the backside that it contains fighting, but that it does not glorify violence.

  there has been a lot of focus on the dvd intended for children.. however, another dvd was also released, a close to an hour drama depiticting the tale of two christian families in jerusalem.. has anyone seen it, or has parts or all of it been uploaded on youtube or a link providing a downloading or something similar?.

  does the wts sanction baptism of gun carrying law officers?.

  does being a cop or prison guard or any other occupation requiring the carrying of a weapon.

  disqualify a person from personal dedication to jehovah according to the fds?.

  beards, I guess, are more a cultural than organizational issue.. E.g. elders in Denmark, Ireland and the Netherlands have beards.

  The Congregation just paid flowers and other expensive for the PO COBE who died two weeks ago?

  i have never in my whole life heard of this being done but at my husband's hall they just asked the congregation to pay about $250.00 to help with the cost of the dinner after the memorial and for flowers.. i was a jw for over 45 years and i have never heard of this.

  when my parents died who had been jw's for years i felt lucky fortunate to even be able to use the kingdom hall for their memorial.

  i am just speechless at them giving money.

  When I was in, flowers were always given from the congregation to all those who were witnesses that were buried... It was covered from the general funds received every month.

  i was considered "exemplary" but i defintely liked my drinking with my other fellow examples.. porn was never a terrible thing to me.

  i looked.. throwing in a few extra hours and placements worked pretty well for me too..
