  in a scene reminiscent of the fall of saigon, the usa embassy staff have been evacuated by helicopter.. for a third time in asia ( a fourth, if you count usa supported chiang kai shek's defeat in mainland china) usa supported forces have been defeated.

  I don't know who has called what is happening in Afghanistan a good plan (was there ever a good plan in Afghanistan?) and I have not attempted to paint current events as "no big deal." It is a disgrace! And most of what has happened in Afghanistan during the last 20 years has been a disgrace starting with the incompetent George W. Bush decision that allowed a doomed Osama bin Laden to escape Tora Bora and make his way to Pakistan.

  A couple months ago while speaking in Ohio, Donald J. Trump referred to crime in Chicago as being worse than Afghanistan and said, "where, by the way, I started the process, all the troops are coming home, they couldn't stop the process. Twenty one years is enough! Don't we think? They couldn't stop the process...they wanted to...very tough to stop the process." What, pray tell, is this "process" Donald J. Trump claims to have started and why couldn't "they" stop it? Lest is be dismissed as fake news, listen for yourself starting at 1:19:00.

  LOL! I don't know how you read this as making it Trump's fault! I pointed out that Biden didn't withdraw from Afghanistan in secret. The intention has been known for a long time. Anybody who claims they didn't know simply were not paying attention.

  Biden didn't discuss anything with anybody. He just abruptly withdrew American troops.

  That is not true. Picking up where Trump left off (Trump was all for getting out of Afghanistan), Biden said the May 1st deadline Trump set was not feasible so he made September 11th the new deadline (I guess for some horrid, symbolic, theatrical reason). As the Taliban started moving, Biden changed the date to August 31 for the safety of American troops. Biden's intentions were not secret.

  By the way, I have thought for a while that the US needed to leave Afghanistan as it didn't seem like we were making much real progress in the region. The US should have left 19 years ago. All the US did was spend a bunch of money (enriching the corrupt in the process) for absolutely nothing.

  Don't rely on western media to be honest about what is actually going on in Kabul. I've read some twitter feeds from there (I admit the possibility that the feeds are bots). I read that the Taliban has assured women that they are key to a healthy economy and can continue to work with Taliban protection, the Taliban will accept bit coin as currency, the Taliban will stop poppy cultivation, and they want to encourage investment. I saw a clip where a Taliban spokesman was asked about free speech and his basic reply was "go ask US companies like Facebook who claim to promote free speech while censuring speech." Maybe, just like today's Afghan, today's Taliban is different from the Taliban 20 years ago. I think it is entirely possible that the US will realize that the big mistake made in Afghanistan wasn't withdrawing the troops. The big mistake was abandoning the Embassy and withdrawing everybody.

  i asked a tennis friend this morning what he thought about what’s going on in afghanistan and he said it was terrible.

  he was a military man and identifies as a middle of the road republican.

  he supported most of trump’s policies but voted for biden because he couldn’t take trump’s mean tweets.

  You are correct. I'm not the one who stated employers have the "right" to force employees to take experimental therapies. A employer has wide latitude when setting conditions of employment. I don't know if that extends to experimental drugs. The courts will have to decide that question. I really don't know why waiting for FDA approval is an issue for so many people.

  LOL! So employers have the "right" to force employees take experimental therapies? Where is that in the Constitution? You do know that forced medical experiments violate the Geneva Convention.
