Biden tipped his hand during last night's speech. He said (paraphrasing), "The election is not over until all the votes...I mean ballots are counted." Votes and ballots are not the same. A vote is cast by a person who meets the legal requirements. A ballot is just a piece of paper.

I predict that starting tomorrow I'll be able to watch a TV program without it being continually interrupted with political ads. I'm frozen2018 and I approve this comment.

I saw some of the business owners painted "We Support BLM" on the plywood. It shows how fearful they are of white supremacists and Proud Boy types when the rioters show up to burn the place down.

I wonder why so few experts are recommending something as simple as taking vitamin D? It's possible there's not much money to be made with vitamin D, but it does help one's immune system. A couple of good walks a day, a mask, stay away from crowds, and vitamin D. Pretty basic.

by frozen2018 inmost years i don't get many kids at my house.
i think its because my staircase is too steep and long but i'd always get a few.

Most years I don't get many kids at my house. I think its because my staircase is too steep and long but I'd always get a few. This year, because of the panic, I left my treats in a big pot by the sidewalk with a sign that says, "Help yourself! Leave some for others, please." The pot is filled with snack size Hershey's, Kit-Kat, and Snickers bars. There is also a carton of juice boxes next to the pot. So far no kids. At least I tried.
I remember Halloween when I was a youth. Mobs of kids running the streets, bags full of candy, the odd act of minor vandalism. Good times...not that I would know from personal experience. We stayed at home...with the lights turned off...in dead silence. That way no one would come to our door. If someone did come and ring the bell, mom would shush us (like we weren't already being quiet) and wait for them to go away. It was kind of nerve racking. Sometimes we would even abandon our house for the night and flee to a friends house way out in the country where trick of treaters didn't bother coming. We did this and thought it was completely normal. Terrified of little kids in costumes. Good times.

Is it New Zealand? I've been there many times. I used to work about 2,500 miles south of Christchurch.

I live in a country where people did listen.
What country do you live in? Sounds like paradise and I want to visit. It's entirely possible I've already been there.

didn’t leave literally for months
Where I live we had a great summer. How many people wasted it by sitting indoors binge watching crap on Netflix?

It really is shameless. I rarely watch the national news because it's always so negative. I did happen to watch the opening of the morning national news today. "Record COVID this morning blah, blah, blah." The video that was shown was shot in a hospital. There was a medical team all dressed in the maximum protective gear and they were frantically working to keep the patient alive. They even did a close up of the intubation! The background music was intense and dramatic. I couldn't help but think, "My God! That might happen to me! Orange man bad!!" In reality I know a few people who have actually tested positive for COVID. Only one ended up in the hospital and he is in his 50's, morbidly obese (and I mean morbidly) and diabetic among other ailments. He was hospitalized for a few days and went home. He is back to work now. The rest of the people I know at worst felt kind of lousy for a few days.
