It was no secret that it was coming. Mr. Trebek certainly showed everyone how to approach the end of life. Rest in peace, Alex Trebek.

Mr. Minimus, how do you feel?
by AbelJohn injust going by the topic titles you've been using these last few weeks.. do you think you can survive a whole four years with someone that's not exactly your favorite candidate?.
i know i'm in the minority from what i've been reading here, but i'm glad for the change!.
well, we all can't be satisfied altogether can we?.

What did I like about Trump?
- The tax cut - I'm not a millionaire or billionaire. Despite the false narrative I did see a reduction in my middle income taxes. I think most honest people would admit the same.
- Renegotiating NAFTA - Mexico and Canada were screwing the US royally.
- Sanctions on China - If Mexico and Canada were screwing the US, China was/is/will continue to gang fuck the US. China is run by some of most nasty people on the planet. Active genocide against native born Muslims. Harvesting organs from living "donors." Stealing intellectual property. Stealing from African nations. Taking over Hong Kong. I could go on and on but I'm sure President Biden will hold them accountable. Maybe he'll send Hunter and some NBA ballers over there to straighten them out.
- Killing select terrorists.
- Fixing up the military.
- Bit of a paradox, but after fixing up the military not starting or expanding any wars. I hope he brings the troops home before he leaves office.
- Requiring NATO to pay their "fair share."
- Pulling out of the Paris Accord.
- Recognizing that the TTP was another bullshit trade deal and walking away.
- Seating hundreds of judges that view the Constitution as the legitimate document it really is. This includes 3 Supreme Court justices.
- Eliminating thousands of stupid and costly regulations.
- I like Trump's energy. Hard to imagine that he is in his 70's as is Biden. A real study in contrast.
- Trump's a fighter. There probably is not anyone on the Planet that could take the daily beat down Trump withstood and still be standing.
- Shaking hands with Kim Jong-un and setting foot in North Korea.
- The Abraham Accords
- He has a hot wife. I'll end there.

I saw this tweet that was sent out to Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (she doesn't like being called AOC by men as it is sexist and disrespectful):
My advice to @AOC
- Stick to your guns and be more aggressive in pushing the Dem Party toward the socialist agenda. Do not be shy in driving your party even further left and certainly don’t let the Claire McCaskill’s of the world silence your voice.
It was sent by Lindsay Graham! LOL!

Going forward, I think we the people need to look at how we register to vote. Maybe voters should be required to re-register? I have to renew my drivers license every few years and other licenses/permits I have. Why not voter registration? I have to register my motor vehicles every year and my dog. Why not my voter status? I suppose people would say that is too much like voter ID (I'm a supporter) and requiring re-registration would somehow disenfranchise someone.
With every passing election I find myself leaning more and more to the concept of sortition. Better to be ruled by random people picked from a phone book...

I remember a few years ago when Afghanistan had it's first election after we went to war there. The Taliban threatened extreme violence against Afghans who voted. Snipers, IED, car bombs, killing family members, and on and on and on. Yet the Afghans turned out, walking long distances through dangerous territory to cast their vote. I remember how proud America was of the Afghan people who, despite the danger, turned out. It seemed that the blood and treasure America, and the rest of the coalition, spent fighting for Afghan freedom was worth it. 'MERICA! Does anyone remember photos like this, a proud Afghan allowing her face to be photographed while displaying her ink dipped finger to show she voted? This is what courage looks like.
Looking at the mess of an election we just had, I'm truly embarrassed for the USA. Why is it that if I withdraw money from an ATM in the middle of Siberia it shows almost immediately at my bank at home? And the transaction is accurate! Yet in America it takes some States days to tally up the votes with no guarantee of accuracy. Maybe the Afghans can help us out next time.

Biden tipped his hand during last night's speech. He said (paraphrasing), "The election is not over until all the votes...I mean ballots are counted." Votes and ballots are not the same. A vote is cast by a person who meets the legal requirements. A ballot is just a piece of paper.

I predict that starting tomorrow I'll be able to watch a TV program without it being continually interrupted with political ads. I'm frozen2018 and I approve this comment.

I saw some of the business owners painted "We Support BLM" on the plywood. It shows how fearful they are of white supremacists and Proud Boy types when the rioters show up to burn the place down.

I wonder why so few experts are recommending something as simple as taking vitamin D? It's possible there's not much money to be made with vitamin D, but it does help one's immune system. A couple of good walks a day, a mask, stay away from crowds, and vitamin D. Pretty basic.

by frozen2018 inmost years i don't get many kids at my house.
i think its because my staircase is too steep and long but i'd always get a few.

Most years I don't get many kids at my house. I think its because my staircase is too steep and long but I'd always get a few. This year, because of the panic, I left my treats in a big pot by the sidewalk with a sign that says, "Help yourself! Leave some for others, please." The pot is filled with snack size Hershey's, Kit-Kat, and Snickers bars. There is also a carton of juice boxes next to the pot. So far no kids. At least I tried.
I remember Halloween when I was a youth. Mobs of kids running the streets, bags full of candy, the odd act of minor vandalism. Good times...not that I would know from personal experience. We stayed at home...with the lights turned off...in dead silence. That way no one would come to our door. If someone did come and ring the bell, mom would shush us (like we weren't already being quiet) and wait for them to go away. It was kind of nerve racking. Sometimes we would even abandon our house for the night and flee to a friends house way out in the country where trick of treaters didn't bother coming. We did this and thought it was completely normal. Terrified of little kids in costumes. Good times.
