If I go out it's bisquits and gravy. The gravy has to have lots of good sausage in it. I don't normally make breakfast if I'm at home unless it's Saturday and the weather is crappy. Then I go for a big bowl of Cap'n Crunch with peanut butter toast while I watch cartoons. It make me feels like a kid again. When I don't want to feel like a kid again, I substitute the Cap'n Crunch with ridiculous amounts of Bailey's Irish Cream and coffee.

Cause of Mass Shootings Mental Health?
by blondie ini have been sad to see so many groups and individuals say that the cause of these events are the mental status of the shooters.
i have looked over the backgrounds of these shooters, and few had medically identified mental health issues.
it is too easy to think that people shoot or kill other people because they are mentally ill.. actually, many or most people with real mental illnesses are most likely to be the victims of others.. i have been a volunteer with the organization called nami (national alliance of mental lillness) for 25 years now.

There is a point of view that the reason the USA has events like mass shootings is the USA has too much freedom. It does stand to reason that if almost anybody can purchase a firearm, the odds are that occasionally someone with their own agenda will get one, or several, and start shooting people. That "too much freedom" business doesn't apply only to firearms. It also applies to speech, religion, assembly, travel, etc. I do not agree with this point of view.
I do have a point of view regarding firearms (I own several). I"m okay with some firearms being banned as long as that ban applies to everyone, public and private. If I can only have single shot shotguns, bolt action rifles, and revolvers, then those weapons are good enough for government employees at all levels - local, county, state, and federal - including the military. The military could have access to the banned weapons when it is deployed to foreign countries. I know, people will say, "But, but, the government won't be able to protect us unless the government is armed to the teeth" to which I say, "Tough shit!" If people think the government actually protects anyone, you are delusional.

Would You Stop Buying A Product Because of Political Differences?
by minimus inwould you stop buying nike products because you didn’t like their politics?
conversely, would you give business to a company because you liked their political stand on a matter?
would you stop watching an entertainer because you disagree with their political perspectives?

I think these inflated prices in the female category cross over to practically everything.
Men die 5 years younger than women just to balance things out.

What Is Trump Doing with China now and his supporters that smell like a Walmart?
by RubaDub inisn't trump shooting himself in the foot when he is on the verge of (or already in) a trade war with china?
isn't walmart like 95% chinese stuff?.
won't there be a backlash when many of his supporters that want to upgrade to indoor plumbing see how much it costs with all the tariffs?

There is more to this dispute than labor costs. Do American firms have equal access to China's market? Many times, American firms wanting to set up shop in China have to give the Chinese government access to trade secrets. It's alleged that China manipulates its currency value. There is the issue of Chinese firms violating patents and producing counterfeit products. There is the issue of Chinese firms using non-authorized, toxic materials while producing products. The issues are numerous.
Richard Nixon's biggest sin was not Watergate. It was reaching out to and opening China.

If there is going to be a war, I prefer a trade war over a shooting war.
Front Line Trade War
Front Line Shooting War
Trade wars don't produce images like this one

If You Could Live In Any Era or Decade What Would It Be?
by minimus ini kind of like the 50’s and early 60’s because of the innocence and “happy days” outlook by that generation.
it seems most people were pretty innocent and real.. would you rather be living in a different era or is this century working for you?

In the USA, I'd go with post-WW 2, say 1946-1955. The mood in the country had to be pretty good after the war. A major plus would be contributing to the baby-boom. Hubba-hubba!
I'm not sure about the 70's. Vietnam, Kent State, OPEC embargo, Watergate, Jimmy Carter with "national malaise", the Ford Pinto, staying alive til '75...the music was pretty good.

I suppose some people do, but do the companies notice? There was a call to boycott Chic-fil-A over the founders stance on same sex marriage, but Chic-fil-A enjoys record growth. And then there was the call to boycott Nike because of the Betsy Ross shoe thing. Didn't seem to hurt Nike one bit. Will Conservatives stop using Google, Facebook, or Twitter because of those firms Liberal leanings? Good luck with that. It seems most people lose their indignation over something after a day or two.
A little side note. When Nike dropped the Betsy Ross shoe because the Betsy Ross flag is now a white supremacist symbol as it was seen being carried at rallies, I thought white supremacists should start wearing Nike apparel and carrying Nike Swoosh flags when they march. I wonder how Nike would respond to that turn of events?

Greenland For Sale
by Poztate inthe donald has recently suggested that he would like to look into buying greenland from denmark in the same manner that alaska was purchased from the russians.
i think the danes would be smart to look into selling it as it is costing them money every year with very little returns for their investments so far.. the alternative might well be that donald declares greenland a national security threat and invades them so that the world remains safe for democracy.
i would suggest to the danes that as any other real estate transaction that they put it on the open market and see how much russia or china are willing to offer .

One of the President's comments about the Greenland offer. He does have a great sense of humor.

Non-profits, including churches, can file for bankruptcy. Under Chapter 7 assets are liquidated and the proceeds go to creditors. Under Chapter 11, debt is reorganized and creditors are paid off on a Court approved schedule.
A reason why churches file for bankruptcy is to stop new civil suits from being filed. When bankruptcy is filed, the amount any existing civil suit is worth is decided by Bankruptcy Court, not Civil Court.

Interested in a refresher about the anointed
by frozen2018 ini've had very little to do with jw's since the early 1990's.
however, i do try to stay a little informed on what they are up to as i have several close relatives who are devout.
i rely on this site to keep me updated.. over the weekend i learned that a couple of my relatives, a father and son, have decided that they are anointed and had some bread and wine at the last memorial.

Thanks for the response, people. The word/concept of "anointed" isn't part of my everyday language. It's not even part of my every-decade language!
