  i know many on this site have differing backgrounds in other religions.

  in your experience, what other religions are like the watchtower in that they offer “loving reminders” that at death, they can will them their 401k, stocks, bonds, homes, jewelry, land, savings, and so on?.

  Stephen Lett’s financial crisis talk makes so much sense now. When he describes the dire situation watchtower is in, he said more money was going out, than coming in. But instead of saying money going out, he says money flowing out. Money is not a thing that flows like alcohol. Could this wording have been due to the Governing Body doing the math and realizing how expensive all this scotch was going to be for the following year? Maybe using the word flow was to partially stay honest telling a little white lie and an inside joke they could all laugh about when all the money started rolling in to support this expensive booze.

  Holy Spirit - Present or Gone in the Congregations?

  i was doing some reminiscing and remember the days back in the late 80s and early 90s where i truly could say the meetings were so encouraging and that i felt the holy spirit present and operating on all of us.

  today when i attend, there is nothing of the sort.

  is it because jehovah has withheld it?

  Wouldn’t that be something to hear Tony was publicly reproved for a time due to this? He could not partake in a broadcast or morning worship, Haha. For what offense you ask? Gluttony. I did some research and it definitely fits. It’s a greedy attitude towards food or drink. I’ve known many elders who have stretched things to justify a judicial committee to out someone.

  Does this drive home the point how super obsessed Tony is about public image? No sins have been committed in all 3 examples, but who has brought the most reproach on Jehovah and his Organization in the 3 examples?

  The fact of the matter is that gal that rung up Fat Tony thinks he's a raging alcoholic. Doesn't matter what the back story is if they were gifts or anything, what matters is what a worldly observer thinks. If that gal sees him on TV and recognizes him, she would tell everyone in the room "hey, that guy spent almost $1000 on hard booze in my store!" Will that bring praise and honor to Jehovah?

  Should it be a scandal if a brother wears taylor fit dress pants? Should it be a scandal if a sister wears spandex while jogging outside? I don't think it should be, yet Tight Pants Tony has to bring it up in front of 8 million viewers and say how disgusting it is and not appropriate for a Christian to do. Are either of them a sin or wrong? Not at all.

  
  

  Let's say it's the summer and the Regional Convention is going on. A group of 10 brothers walked into a bar with their convention badges on and asked the bartender for a couple $100 bottles of whiskey and they all enjoyed a glass or two. There is no sin at all in what they are doing, expensive drinks aren't a sin, walking into a bar isn't a sin, doing any of that while you're in town for a convention isn't a sin, but be honest, what would Tony say? Would he say that is completely fine and actually encourage it to give a witness that they are in town for the convention?

  I’m sorry if I’m coming across as upset, but it really bothers me that he has the gall to tell little children they can pass up on the ice cream and send their $$$ to the Society, but he has no problem buying $100 bottles of booze. It’s downright sickening.
