  I’m sorry if I’m coming across as upset, but it really bothers me that he has the gall to tell little children they can pass up on the ice cream and send their $$$ to the Society, but he has no problem buying $100 bottles of booze. It’s downright sickening.

  Whoever is speculating that Tight Pants Tony was purchasing gifts for the Gilead class, I'm not buying it. Tony is so full of himself, why would he be delegated to go out on a Sunday drive to purchase gifts, when one of his minions could do it? Who buys very expensive whiskey or scotch as a gift for a large group of people anyways? You'd normally buy a group of people a nicer bottle of wine, it takes a particular taste in alcohol to desire the taste of whiskey or scotch. This was clearly either all for Tony to last him awhile, or for him and his buddies on the Governing Body. It would not surprise me one bit when they have their spiritual discussions and decide on "New Light", that they are all sipping back on those drinks. I am starting to wonder now if Tony tips back a few before getting on the broadcast. I'm sure anyone would be nervous thinking millions will be watching you when it's released, so I'm sure a stiff drink or two would help you get through it. When you factor in the crazy things he says, along with his speech sounding slurred at times, you almost have to expect he's under the influence, he has to be.

  For those that don’t see anything wrong with what Tony did, I’m going to assume they must have been out of the religion for a long time and not heard Tony’s talks for the past 5+ years.

  You guys are all completely right, there is nothing wrong with buying a dozen bottles of booze. It could have all been for one party, which he only was going to have one glass of. Maybe it’s his stash for an entire year. Others are bringing out he could have been skipping a meeting or service. Others saying he was trying to conceal himself with the hat. I think everyone is getting distracted by all these other things and not focusing on what was really wrong with what he did. In my mind, this is all about the money. This wasn't just a dozen bottles of booze for $20 per bottle like most normal people would buy, try 4-5x that cost per bottle.

  This man has a platform to deliver talks to the entire World through JW Broadcasting. What does he do with that platform?

  • He chastises parents who would even think for a moment of allowing their child to attend college to obtain a more secure financial future for themselves.
  • He chastises members who take a better paying job if it means missing a meeting or field service here and there.
  • He chastises members who lean towards a materialistic lifestyle of enjoying some finer things in life
  • He encourages children to give up their ice cream money to send to the Organization.
  • He chastises members for having nice homes, cars or boats when they should simplify their lives and put the Kingdom first.
  • He chastises members if they put themselves in a situation that doesn’t look good from a worldly persons perspective and not becoming of a True Christian.

  If you think I’m going overboard on using the word chastising, I’m not. Just watch him. He looks pissed off and uses words like disgusting when talking of these things.

  This is an Organization where it’s been said more money is flowing out, than coming in. They say more and more Kingdom Halls have to be built while there not being enough funds to do it all with. Just a recent broadcast said there have been more natural disasters than ever before and the Organizations projected costs to provide disaster relief was going to skyrocket. That is a hint for members to send them more money without blatantly asking for more. They’ve encouraged members to skip out on all the needless vacations to give to Jehovah. They’ve printed how members can hand over stocks and bonds, 401Ks, homes, savings, land, literally any asset they own that has value to put Kingdom interests first either now or willed over at their death.

  If this money was used from donated funds, that is an absolute tragedy. If it’s from Tony’s own account, it’s a shame he isn’t giving it to the Organization when he’s encouraging millions to sacrifice nicer things in life.

  This also begs the question, if this was a rare case of taping him doing this, how many other times has he done it, or other things where spending extravagant amounts of money on things that aren’t needed has been done?

  To conclude, this is my opinion only and if many disagree, I can respect that. There was nothing “wrong” with what Tony did. But what he did has now took away his free speech of any talks revolving around money and sacrificing it for the Kingdom. He can keep condemning ones wearing clothes he doesn’t approve of and I’ll laugh about it, but the minute money comes up, I will stop laughing and yell Hypocrite!

  Dreary, we already know the Organization is cutthroat and will kick anyone to the curb at anytime and not care for how their needs are going to be met, think of the hundreds laid off from Bethel in the past couple of years.

  If they did it to Tony and his wife, it’s just another example or case to add to their list. Business as usual for them, I’d have nothing new to bash them about.
  

  I would only sympathize and be on Tony’s side if he humbled himself and stopped being so critical and judgmental of everyone else.

  You’re right though JW GoneBad. It would be hard for any apostate to take him in and be supportive when he’s had a hand in ruining so many lives, also ending many lives.

  I should rephrase that. In Tony’s case, he feels he will become a mighty angel serving alongside Jesus, so probably is fine with using and abusing his body before he turns it in for heavenly life.

  As they say, perception is reality. Doesn’t matter what the facts are, the point is how does this appear to others. As someone noted, he went to great lengths to minimize any from being stumbled, but this one outing came back to bite him.

  I find it so odd that JWs preach and teach we want to respect life and what Jehovah God has given us, yet they feel it’s acceptable to disrespect their bodies eating whatever they want becoming obese, as well as pickling their liver with all the booze they drink.

  They seem to think they will get new bodies in the new system. Sorry, but if you live on into the new system, your stuck with the same body unfortunately. Better off dying to get that new bod!

  No one will care outside of this audience, agreed. Hell, many in this audience don’t care. I for one though think it’s the ultimate act of hypocrisy. How does a man condemn people for enjoying the finer things in life and encourage all its members to just eek by in life and send all their money to the Organization, while his fat, lazy a$$ can enjoy the finer things in life? I think if any other GB member did this, it wouldn’t get the same attention as top shelf Tony. He deserves this for being such a critical, pompous, judgmental a$$hole.

  Holy Spirit - Present or Gone in the Congregations?

  i was doing some reminiscing and remember the days back in the late 80s and early 90s where i truly could say the meetings were so encouraging and that i felt the holy spirit present and operating on all of us.

  today when i attend, there is nothing of the sort.

  is it because jehovah has withheld it?

  Today when I attend, there is nothing of the sort. Is it because Jehovah has withheld it? Is it because I’m not worthy of receiving it now? Was I just brainwashed and having a placebo effect a couple decades ago? Did Jehovah ever offer his Spirit to Jehovah’s Witnesses?

  
  

  Wondering if any of you still attending feel the same way. I recently attended the special assembly day and everyone looks so bored and depressed. Not the effect you would think the Holy Spirit would have on a group.

  
  

  I think it’s a combination of a lot of things. The expectation Armageddon was supposed to come decades ago and it hasn’t yet. The number of people aging with no retirement money and very limited means to get by before dying. Having family members that have to be shunned. All the negativity constantly spewed in talks about how bad this life is. For example, go to https://www.jw.org/en/news/jw/. Does that look like a religion that is sharing good news with people?

  beards, after all, signify independent thinking and are best left to worldlings.

  He looks much better with the full beard. Nothing sloppy or unprofessional about it either, it’s neat and well maintained. He not only joined a cult, but looks much worse now!
