You make an interesting point, Shakita...and I agree with you to an extent. But if violence against one justifies violence against another, how and when does the struggle end? When we have all killed each other and there is no one else to blame?

A quote about peace....
by kelsey007 in"peacekeeping is not only a central characteristic of the gospel.
peacemaking is the greatest need of the world today.
we are the daughters and sons of god, and that means we are called to be peacemakers, whether we like it or not.

That is a wonderful quote, Kelsey Although spirituality varies around the world (which implies that our motivations vary as well), we do have a responsibility to cultivate peace...not just peace among each other, but peace within ourselves.
I don't know so much about politics (international power struggles make me feel so helpless...) but I do know a little about the human spirit...and the way our perspectives can influence the world. I believe in peace, and if there was some way to portray peace as a reality and not just a pipe dream, I think others would believe in it too.

I think that is a great idea, Vanilla Unfortunately, as Navigator said, there will always be people who have to learn the hard way...but that doesn't stop us from trying to guide those that are searching for answers and in need of encouragement! As Nietzsche said: " To prove a conviction is quite senseless; rather, it is important to prove that one has a right to be so convinced."
I see that you are a newbie. Welcome to the board, and I look forward to reading more of your ideas!

This is one of my favorite country songs.
Garth BrooksThe River
You know a dream is like a river
Ever changin' as it flows
And a dreamer's just a vessel
That must follow where it goes
Trying to learn from what's behind you
And never knowing what's in store
Makes each day a constant battle
Just to stay between the shores.. and
I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind
These waters are my sky
I'll never reach my destination
If I never try
So I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry
Too many times we stand aside
And let the waters slip away
'Til what we put off 'til tomorrow
Has now become today
So don't you sit upon the shoreline
And say you're satisfied
Choose to chance the rapids
And dare to dance the tide.. yes
I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind
These waters are my sky
I'll never reach my destination
If I never try
So I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry
And there's bound to be rough waters
And I know I'll take some falls
But with the good Lord as my captain
I can make it through them all.. yes
I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind
These waters are my sky
I'll never reach my destination
If I never try
So I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry
Yes, I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry

Internet banned?
by gilwarrior ini know that this subject has been talked about many times, but i am convinced that if the wts gets more fanatical, they will eventually ban witnesses from going on the internet.
yeah, i know it sounds goofy, but there are so many witnesses who are leaving as a result of what they have found on the net that the wts will have no choice, but to do it.
they will probably find some "new light" and probably sight some bible scripture.

Why dont the just ban reading altogether and start an oral tradition. They might as well; they already contradict themselves as if no one has written proof of their lies.

JW lingo...ad nauseum
by KistByQpid inok...i have to admit this board has been unbelievably helpful in helping me figure out my jw mom!
i've especially got a kick out of reading the many posts about their "language.
" well, today i'm trying to have a "normal" conversation with my mom...i've decided their is no such thing as "normal" when talking to a zealous jw.

One of my close JW friends in high school had a habit of using JW lingo with his worldly friends (not that he had many...just classmates and colleagues at work). Initially it was amusing to hear him twist JW-isms into his conversations, but after a while it became really annoying. He even started writing bad poetry full of those silly phrases us "enlightened ones" now love to hate. I thought that once our worldly friends heard his ridiculous rhymes they would tell him to focus his energies elsewhere and stop punishing the paper he writes on with mismatched words and ungodly grammar, but I wasn't so lucky. They all pretended he was magnificent so that he would continue to humor them...little did they know that I had to hear this mumbo jumbo from him AND from elders three nights a week.
The last I heard from him he was still talking like a Watchtower-On-Tape and writing poetry that would drive any literary person insane. But guess what friends, one of the perks of being inactive is having that lovely "bad association" label slapped on your back like a "Kick Me!" sign. So...I am no longer able to revel in his poetic slendor. Poor me.

DFd for gluttony
by Tyler_Durden in"now the works of the flesh are manifest and they are... drunken bouts, revelries, and things like these... those who practise such things will not inherit god's kingdom" (galatians 5:19-21) .
it's 6 months since i disappeared from the dub scene but the elders finally tracked me down!
thing is i so wanna be dfd, i wanna move on with my life... but i need (for personal reasons) to leave the jws in crazy-style .

Elsewhere, that's brilliant! Let's all pick our favorite sin and make t-shirts so that other sinners will know that we are down with sinning!Make a t-shirt that says: "Gluttony is Good!"
