  Education or propaganda?

  looking for some material to post on facebook or at least share with my wife to somewhat inoculate her mind before the convention this weekend.. found this gem...it's as if the writers are apostates reasoning against the tactics used at this years convention.....(probably old news to many here....quite new for me).. the cunning propagandist loves such shortcuts—especially those that short-circuit rational thought.

  propaganda encourages this by agitating the emotions, by exploiting insecurities, by capitalizing on the ambiguity of language, and by bending rules of logic.

  as history bears out, such tactics can prove all too effective.. [...].

  most of us are desperately waiting for the availability of a legal crisis of conscience.

  deborah dykstra provided us with two updates.

  on december 12, 2015 there was a clear statement about the copyright which stopped all illegal activity in spreading electronic versions & prints.. finally, she promised a new update by or before may 6.. so far no new update.

  For me, I really needed CoC. It confirmed so much of what I was already thinking/feeling and really exposed the Watchtower in the gentle and kind way that I needed. Anger just turned me off and made me think "apostate" and shut down. Ray Franz had a fantastic way of expressing himself.

  
  

  In addition, he destroyed the illusion of the Governing Body, which I really needed. As a r&f witness, you are constantly asked to look up to and revere the gb. You are told they have a special helping of Holy Spirit and deep closeness with Jehovah. That they are specially equipped to interpret and understand the scriptures. That they are the most humble and like Jesus. Even though I was already strongly suspecting otherwise, especially after Anthony Morris III came on the scene with all his hateful vitriol, I needed that confirmation and proof.

  I read Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom recently as a PDF on Scribd. Not sure if this is a legal distribution or not.

  I found both books immensely helpful in confirming my awakening, along with jwfacts.com, jwsurvey.com, YouTube and message boards. Wikipedia helped a lot too, because a lot of the information can be confirmed on Wikipedia with sources. Also Watchtower Documents was really helpful to be able to look at the actual literature in question.

  Honestly, Cedars videos on YouTube are what woke me up initially. I was actually looking up Witness videos on YouTube and stumbled across his channel. So, regardless of whatever controversy there is, his videos are valuable and very helpful.

  I tried to buy CoC on Amazon and it was like $175. I ended up downloading Scribd just so I could read CoC.

  Any Reviews or Feedback from the District Convention??

  i stopped in to see if that are any overwhelming statistics, stories or feedback from people regarding the 2016 district convention.....haven't seen much...... any stories or threads?.

  Friend1 - Convention was awesome!

  Friend 2 - Best Convention EVER!!! We say that every year, but this one you can take to the bank!

  Friend3 - Historic convention!

  Friend675 (jk, but a lot of different people) - Best Convention EVER!!!

  Typical empty platitudes and cult indoctrination.

  Then I deleted everyone on my social media that was a Witness. Just so done with hearing about this culty nonsense and horrible religion.

  The Shunning truth is now out...

  i have been df'd for 9yrs as of july 31 (yay me!).

  so as i have written about previously in other posts, my whole family (parents + sister) made the choice to treat me as if i do not exist, and i have accepted it.

  last summer they made a blatant show of it as our family reunion, in that they would walk right by me and not say one word...prompting our extended family to question their actions.

  Hey we got shunned by my husband's super self-righteous brother without even being inactive. We simply weren't doing enough in his estimation, so he has been shunning us. He still hasn't even laid eyes on my 7 month old son and he only lives 2 hours away.

  Are they either leaving or going full on 'cult mode'? No quarter.

  it might just be me imagining things.. i hear things from my jw spies.. from all that's being said, it seems to me that the rank and file(tm), are either waking up to the scam and fading/leaving.

  they are going full on 'cult mode' and acting like 'spiritual police'.. is it just me and my imagination?

  have others noticed this?.

  punkofnice, well you know how Americans are about British accents. I don't know why, but we just love them! Half the reason for watching British shows is the accent! :)

  New Here ... Just woke up

  this is my first post.

  i haven't been out in service or to a meeting in over a month.. i realize now that i've been having serious questions for years and many articles and talks have greatly disturbed me over the years.

  Thanks Flipper. I think I live close to you from your other posts, but closer to the city. I hope I can meet with you and some other apostates soon!

  Thanks to everyone for all your support! It has been really helpful. Leaving this cult is very traumatic and it's hard not to be angry and resentful. I will try to focus on the positive and not dwell on how much this cult has ruined my life. I will try to get peace.
