Thank you guys so much for understanding! Apostates have proven to be so much nicer and cooler than JWs as a whole. It really means a lot that ex-jws are there to support each other.

I've been gone for a while doing other research, checking out other forums.
This forum is the first place I went when I very first started waking up and I just want to say thank you. From the bottom of my heart thank you.
You guys were so helpful, so kind and so supportive. I really appreciate that. You guys got me and were there for me when my whole world was crashing in on me. When I realized that everything that I sincerely believed and dedicated my entire adult life to was built on lies.
I left because I got overwhelmed by the religious/atheist debates and just needed a minute to process all these new concepts and ways of thinking. I have now spent a lot of time researching and considering many of the arguments and history of religion. I was a Christian when I came here, now I am atheist agnostic. I don't discount that there could be a force or spiritual whelm, I just don't know at this moment. I do discount a loving God that demands to be worshipped only in a particular way on threat of eternal destruction/suffering while not making clear what that way is and at the same time allowing untold human suffering.
Anyway, I don't really want to get into a debate about religion or lack thereof. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone and let y'all know where I'm at. You do make a difference.

Watchtower Society Sued For Covering Up For Molestor Derek Packowski
by qua insacramento vicinity (loomis, rocklin, sunset congregations): court documents were just issued charging derek packowski and the watchtower society corporations.
the papers were filed by the legal firm of nolen saul brelsford of sacramento, california.
the child molestor and said corporations headed by the governing body over jehovah?s witnesses, were charged with not reporting to law enforcement and systematically conspiring and suppressing information about sexual molestation committed by packowski when he was in a congregation in des plaines, illinois, also after about 1984 and later in california at the loomis congregation from which formed the rocklin and sunset congregations.

I know all about this case. I personally know some of the victims, who are not listed in the suit. This man molested/raped dozens of children from 1984 - 1998. Mostly likely many more since then as he was never criminally prosecuted and is still an active Jehovah's Witness.
Because the statute of limitations had passed due to cover-up by the elders and Watchtower, no criminal charges were possible, only civil charges. The case was settled out of court.
I ask any victims of this man to please message me. He is still at large and active in the congregation.
At this moment, I am carefully investigating and trying to decide the best course of action to protect other children from harm.

Woman's Purpose
by StopTheTears ini'm probably going to say some things here that will disappoint many.
there are some that may look back over the years and say "man i really blew it" i'm not writing the following to scold for failures, but rather to help those who are young enough to put into practice what god wills for their life, and also to those of us who are in our middle years that still have time to change some things, in order to please god and find a peace that only being in his will can bring.
first let me say that god didn't create man for you.

Remember that she may very well care about you on her own. Remember that if it were not for the cult, you most likely would still be friends. Remember that her mind is not her own. That is a sad place to be for any human.
Most of all, be thankful to be free. To follow your own conscience. To live a life of love and joy.
Know that if there is a God, that being is absolute love. That being is not so small and petty as we humans and the major religions make that being out to be.
The religious philosophies have many important lessons and are important culturally. However, they also reflect the values of the humans that wrote them. Just as the philosophies of jw org reflects the values of the humans that write them. By placing their words in the context of an Almighty God, they ascribe weight and authority to those words, rather than allowing those words to stand on their own.
If the jw org practice of shunning stood on its own, few would follow it because it is ludicrous and unloving on its face. However, by subscribing God to this concept, jw org has hoodwinked many otherwise decent people into practicing that which is thoroughly indecent.
Continue in love, kindness and compassion regardless of your religious beliefs or lack thereof and you will be alright. You will have a beautiful life.
I firmly believe that if there is a God, that being *is* absolute love and that all things done in love are godly. That we are here to love and help our fellow beings now and not tomorrow.
That if there is a God of pure love, that being will not punish you for not knowing all the answers or for being mistaken. How can we be expected to know the right answer with a million different philosophies and such limited information? I believe God is greater than that. I may be wrong. I guess I'll find out one way or the other in the end.

Exactly stuckinarut2. As the jw org always says, "now we are not under the law, but the principle still applies." *facepalm* If we are not under the law, how does the principle still apply? Like you said, either the law applies or it doesn't.

Interracial Relationships and JWs
by HiddlesWife ini've noticed that within the past couple of decades, i don't see a lot of interracial relationships (ir, for short) in the org.. i, myself, was involved in an ir over 2-3 decades ago and was engaged to get married [my ethnicity is: african-american and latina; my ex-fiance's ethnicity is: scottish and italian].
he broke off the engagement, after three years of friendship and two years of dating, because his uncle and another brother (who was a temporary volunteer at bethel) pressured him to end our relationship [p.s.
: his mother was quite close to my mother, one of my sisters and one of my close cousins.

I've seen a lot of interracial and inter-ethnic couples in the hall. I've never heard anything negative against it. I lived in California. I don't know if that makes a difference. I'm sorry about what happened to you though. On the bright side, at least you are free to make your own decisions now.

Judicial Committees should have an option to be public
by EndofMysteries inthinking back to how they went from votes by the congregation under russels time to private closed doors in rutherfords time so as to not waste time, etc, of other members.
if it really wasn't to hide things from the org, it would have an option for the person it's against to have it open to the public.
a time announced for any members or the person to bring any they want to attend.

Hmmm, could a system that is conducted entirely in secret and in which the same men are investigator, prosecutor, judge and executor be primed for abuse? Hmmm ....
