Genealogy is hokey to some, but I absolutely got addicted after I started doing my family history. I have found many long lost cousins, after finding out my grandfather had other brothers and sisters.
Also beware of the family surprises: I found my other grandfather's "love child" from almost 50 years ago. DNA tests proved it...

That's right - Kelly Wiglesworth. She's done quite well for herself since Survivor. She cohosted a show on the E! channel where they take different celebrities on extreme adventures in exotic destinations.

I remember the bride and groom weren't allowed to write their own vows or anything like that. They had to use the vows the Society has written. The wedding music was music from the songbook, no Wedding March or anything like that. Of course it was OK to play "secular" music at the reception. Also the reception has to be held at a different location than the KH, since there are no fellowship halls.
I think the bride has to say she has the "deepest respect" for her hubby instead of the word obey.
Obey??? To me that's an online auction website...

The latest femme fatale from Survivor was Kimmy. She was the vegetarian and the one I remembered got into a verbal fight with Alicia over killing of the chickens. I think she got voted off right after that.

This is a wonderful place to vent, but John Ankerberg's series of discussions with 4 ex Jehovah's-Witnesses, including Lorri MacGregor and Joan Cetnar, helped me tremondously.

I think I have spent my 39 years on this Earth trying to find the truth. I thought it was in the WT and then realized all the lies and deception and the way the Bible was twisted to suit their own crazy beliefs. After I left the WT, I was angry at God or whoever I thought he was. I do not hold myself to any organized religion, although I profess myself to be Christian.

How horribly frustrating for you because of your brother's crazy thinking and decisions. However the JW cult is perfect for people like him, because they can't see the forest through the trees. I remember when I was a JW I heard an elder say that some JW's treated Jehovah like a good luck charm. I think that's the only sensible thing I heard that elder fellow ever say. Your brother will continue to think this way as long there are people around in his world to give him the thumbs-up whenever he makes these slanted decisions.
It doesn't just happen in JW's. My good friend for 20 years, I love her dearly, however she has 4 children and her husband hasn't been able to hold a job for any length of time. She home schools the kids and they are currently on government assistance. She still however, thinks that its OK to bring in more children into her family and doesn't do anything to keep from getting pregnant. She refuses to work and has even said she would take her home schooling underground if they make it illegal. Sometimes when I hear her spout these things I want to scream.
