Why do they care about what I say or do? If they do, then they are not paying attention to their own flock. Oh that's right, they think they still own me...

Has the Watchtower infiltrated JWD?
by JH in.
do you think that at least one active person on this board is working for the watchtower and trying desperately to get information on people here?
do you know who you can really trust on this site, or is everyone a potential watchtower spy?

Do Any Of You Think That A JW That You KNOW Reads This Board?

Sincerely, no. When I stopped going to meetings, those friendships went out the window.

Burial or Cremation?
by Francois ini got the idea for this thread from one jessika posted and which contained a response from dede.. which form of final resting place do you prefer and why?
personally, i want to be cremated and have my ashes scattered at a particular place on the beach on deserted st. catherine's island, a barrier island on the georgia coast.
my children could get there by boat (the only way) and visit my spirit there - even though i know my spirit won't be there, i believe that somehow i will know they're there and what they're saying.. being buried in a box six feet under to lie in the same position througout all eternity doesn't appeal to me in the least.

After going to upteen funerals since I was young person and viewing my grandparents, greatgrandparents, great aunts, uncles, etc., there is no alternative for me but cremation and have my cremains put in a niche.

The BCOC wouldn't tell me who they were, we usually met in the meeting room at their apartment complex. I hung around these folks about 4 months, then I had a Bible study with one of them. She started being rude and telling me how horrible I was for not making a decision about God. I began to think same song, different method. I never phoned her again and a couple of years later I saw the girl at the grocery store who tried to recruit me. She had left also!

Are You Ashamed Of The Way That You Disciplined Your Child?
by minimus inmost articles in the publications recommended physical punishment, (corporal) when disciplining children.
the scripture says that "he will not die" if you beat him.
so many parents literally beat their children.

I am ashamed of the way I was disciplined as a child. Not with love, only rage and tyrannical behavior. My parents weren't JW's then, that came later. Weird enough, becoming JW's made them become nicer people, or they could have mellowed with age. My parents now deny they ever treated me badly...that's what hurts the most!

Go to a grave and talking to the dead has always been therapy for me. When I was 6 years old, my grandfather died of cancer. I was young, not many memories of the man. I knew he drank beer and like to pay the violin. Then another journey with him began three years ago. While doing my family history on genealogy.com, I came across a post from a person wanting information about a man with the same initials of my grandfather...weird I thought. To make a long story short, this person turned out to be my new aunt! My grandfather had an affair with her mother and produced this child. Sweet, wonderful lady that she is. To prove all this, my aunt did DNA testing with her and sure enough, my known aunt has a new 1/2 sister! I was so mad at my grandfather, I went to his grave and yelled at him. It has turned out good though, as my family has embraced my new aunt. She and I get together a few times a year, as we were friends for 2 years before DNA testing was done. I am so glad I had a part in something so positive, as my new aunt is a wonderful person. And not knowing who her family was always haunted her. She said she didn't feel complete until she got the DNA test results in the mail. Last Memorial Day, I took her to visit her grandmother's grave. This year, I will take her to visit her grandfather's grave. It's been a wonderful journey, and I love her!

Dub Fads
by In_between_days inwhen you were a jw, did you witness a rather large enthusiasm from your congregation for passing fads?
what i mean is, one dub would start something and everyone would join in?
this was especially prevelant with the women of the congregations.. for instance, for a while every female dub was undertaking this strange diet where they basically drink this really odd and particularly disturbing looking mushroom that they kept in their fridge.

I remember some of the fads being somewhat amusing. The pioneers in our congregation decided to exercise, and guess what, they started walking laps in the parking lot at the KH. Pretty funny to watch, women in dresses and tennis shoes going around in circles. Actually, it was probably good exercise, but it was crazy to turn into the KH parking lot and see the sisters doing their laps.

OK guys: I need help with this one. This is something told directly to me. I will try to get the facts as straight as possible.
One of my good friends whom I have known for many years has been talking to a guy on the Internet for a couple of years. Back and forth simple correspondence, both having a mutal interest in something. Recently he started flirting with her and she absolutely fell for it. She told me they ended up doing the cyber thing (by what she described, several times recently.) Yesterday, she calls me and says "he won't answer my emails, I can't find him on the Internet"...(that Instant Messenger stuff). She doesn't understand very much about the Internet. I told her he probably put your screen name on block, he's deleting your emails and he's probably feeling guilty about what he did. She's very upset, thinking she's being rejected. I told her to forget about everything he said, and to delete his email from her list and to delete his screen identifier from her buddy list and not to contact him anymore. One big thing I told her, "Do not contact him by phone or anything else." He will start thinking you're cyber stalking him.
Did I do the right thing guys?

The Boston Church of Christ did their best to recruit me after leaving JW's. Thank goodness they didn't succeed.
