I just worked in radio for a short time, about 6 months. I was going through school and wanted to see if I liked working in that type of industry. I mostly did grunt work, however they let me operate the controls on the weekend during the overnight hours. Then they replaced me with a syndicated oldies show (Casey Kasem I think.) That PD is still at the same station. A veteran of many years on the radio, he introduced the Beatles when they came to Pittsburgh in 1964. He was part of the famous KQV ensemble for many years, and is well known in Pittsburgh radio.

I, too worked for an oldies station and that song is a highly played song on most radio stations playlist. That and "Going to the Chapel" by the Dixie Cups. The program director wouldn't let anyone deviate from the playlist, he was such a jerky womanizing control freak, which is ultimately why I quit the radio station.

How Close Do YOU Live To BETHEL?
by RAYZORBLADE inya know, i've had to wonder, since the comment had been posed to me some time ago about various parts of the world, and how close they live to their respective bethels.
so how close do you live to bethel (of your country)?.
the reason i ask is, at least around here, the closer you live to bethel, it seems the more spiritual (jw sense of the word) some of our posters are.

JWs like Spartans?
by Valis ini was watching the history channel the other day and they had this show about the spartans and their life.
it seemed to me that jws are very much like spartans were in a way.
the men and women were groomed from early on to do one thing.

I saw the name David Naughton. Best known for shredding humans and bonking Jenny Agutter in an "American Werewolf in London." Remember when he was the official Dr. Pepper guy and danced in our homes some 20 plus years ago? He came to the J.C. Penney where I worked and I got my picture taken with him. I found that photo recently going through all of my photographs.
I think most of the people on this list are candidates for "Star Dates" on E!.

Just what constitutes a "good seat" at an assembly?
by xjw_b12 inblondies post on an earlier thread re the gate crashers at the assemblies running to "save" the best seats got me to thinking..
just what constitutes a "good seat" at an assembly?
i've never quite understood that.

I think back and I don't remember ever going hog wild every year, probably because every year we were reminded what jerks some were the year before and I didn't want to be in that group. I remember always getting a seat, but mostly being in the nosebleed section. I know one time I was on the last row in the arena and a woman next to me was lamenting about how far up she was....she said she felt more spiritual on the floor of the arena, because "God's people from Brooklyn" were there...

Could it be the...ruins of Aggelokastro or the Monastery at Palaiokastritsa? Looks like some of the pictures I took when I went there in 1988.

I'm definitely having a memory lapse on that particular event in my life. I think it was an assembly. I stuck my finger down my throat, left at the lunch break, walked out into the Texas scorching sun and exited faster than a JW walking in on a blood drive.

Cruzan - remember all the weddings at the Kingdom Halls during the early/mid 1980's? Interiors of the KH for the most part were bland in the first place, so you'd think a stunning bride, her studly groom dressed in a suit/tuxedo and their attendants with the flowers, etc. would make the place a little more aesthetically pleasing to the eyes? Sure enough, there would be these beautiful photos taken of the bride and groom and YUCK - the photo was marred by orange shag carpet or pukey "Brady Bunch years" green.
They recently revamped the KH we both went to in the 1980's. I saw the photos and I have to say, somebody other than a elder was in charge of decorating the interior and it looks pretty good...pretty good for a Kingdom Hall, that is.
