If you have TV Land, tune in at 8:00 pm eastern every night and you can see the very first shows, dating to 1974. The character of Nellie was introduced last night; it was great seeing the characters introduced. I didn't watch the show til a few seasons later and by then Mary was going blind and the girls were looking for husbands.
Great show, great music and my goodness, the late Michael Landon never looked hotter!

on another thread they were talking about the lack of joy and mental health problems coming from jw kids not being allowed to participate at class dances, sports and so forth.
the lack of the joyfulness of birthdays is another factor.
why not leave some copies of this in your kingdom halls and assemblies if you still attend.
There is nothing wrong with celebrating birthdays, never has and never will. If the Witnesses wanted to ban something, they'd probably arrange for a murder to happen and then tell the flock they can't do it anywhere because in some obscure place a murder took place. These people have nothing else better to do is make up crap and then not let the rank and file have fun anymore. To take away a child's birthday is pure stupidity!

the other day i was at my desk coughing profusely...simple leftover from my cold, and my coworker asked me: what's going on?
she's a nosey sort anyway so i just popped out "i am trying to hack into my computer..." she laughed so hard and then called all her coworkers, husband, mother to tell them my joke...was it that funny???

I love the title of this thread! Great story!
so i went to last nights bookstudy which discusses 6 paragraphs of the daniel book so there was lots of room for comment.
the study itself already was pretty frustrating it was taken from chapter 17 paragraphs 24-29 and it goes on about how the fds has to be lead by jehovah because of all the prophecies of daniel that fits them (1335 days was this convention to that etc etc).
but the paragraphs also mention the failed prediction for 1925. here are some interresting quotes from the book: .
Biting my tongue at a bookstudy became an almost weekly event my last few years in the WT. My bookstudy conductor loved the date thing; constantly looking at world events to decide if the end was happening this year or next year. He was a really nice looking man (and still is I hear) but has stayed single all these years. Lots of sisters tried to get their hooks in him!
