When you were a witness, did you ever wonder where the GOOD witnesses were?
by BizzyBee ini grew up in the borg and can remember feeling a disconnect with the portrayal of witness behavior in the literature and what i actually experienced.
the stories from the yearbook about people wanting to study with witnesses "thirsty for knowledge of the truth" were so different from the responses i got in the fs, where people just seemed annoyed.
the pictures of happy folk and families of all colors looking toward some ray of light, united in the love for jehoober and each other, did not square with what was going on in my congo.

I remember one family in particular. They were a very attractive family; wife looked like Whitney Houston and the husband looked like Billy Dee Williams...their growing family were beautiful...then they move to California and I never see them again. Well that is until I saw the wife years later at my previous job. We both looked at each other and said almost immediately..."aren't you a JW??" She then told me about how her husband controlled her; was abusive to the kids, used his elder post to humiliate and verbally abuse her all the time; they separated and she eventually divorced him. He then remarried and was promptly disfellowshipped. I couldn't believe what I heard; and then I realized how naive I was to think just because they looked good didn't mean everything was good...

Would you shame someone for going back to the Witnesses?
by free2beme ini was thinking about this, as i have a former witness friend who is showing signs of wanting to go back, even though they have expressed over the years a lot of frustration and lack of belief for the faith.
as much as i find their decision to be a mistake, i do understand why.
after all, unlike myself and family, i have never been shunned by the few family members left in and i moved on over the last decade to build new friendships and hobbies.

How do you handle extremely rude people in public?
by Virgochik ini'm so upset by two vicious women who came to my work today.
i was helping a man in my line and they tried to cut in front.
i politely explained that as soon as i finished with my customer, i would help them.

There's no pleasing some people. I think it's a game with some people; to see how rude they can be and get away with it. I remember my first retail job with a chain no longer around. I used to see people lie thru their teeth to get the best offer on tires, appliances, furniture. It was horrible the way they acted. My boss would just give into them. Perhaps that's why they are out of business.

by lovelylil ina friend of mine recently told me that she had committed this "act of revenge" on an elders wife once.
i know the elders wife too and she is such a snoody-nose in the air, my family is better than yours person.

I am sure it would be hard to prove - I remember that this particular dispute was an ongoing dispute between neighbors and this lady received hundreds of mail subscriptions in the mail and they were able to prove it was the neighbor. It would also be considered theft of services on the part of the magazines sent to her.
Word for the wise; getting revenge and then up serving time would be no fun; the poor girl would be harassed by JW's wanting to talk about God behind bars!

I don't really know how they could; however I do know people have been prosecuted. I remember several years ago a man was sent to jail for a few months because he was harassing his neighbor with literally hundreds of mail subscriptions. It is considered harassment because it is considered merchandise that the person didn't order....
I think the person getting the subscriptions would have to file a complaint with the US Postmaster.
When you send something thru the mail fraudently; it's considered mail fraud and you can be punished by up to 5 years in prison for every occurrence...

I hated going out in service in the final years; I hated it with a purple passion. I can't imagine a more horrible experience...
