My Irish friend lost her cousin in the twin towers; he was on either the 96th or 98th floor. All they found of him was his heel bone!

Did 9-11 Change Your Life?
by Blueblades inon a crisp september morning nearly five years ago, terrorists hijacked four american airliners in a coordinated suicidal attack on america.
within hours, thousands of americans were dead, new york city's two tallest buildings were gone, the pentagon in washington was ripped open and a stunned america was watching helplessly - fearfully - as images from ground zero filled their tv.

I started at this job over a year ago and my boss never takes vacations, is there 7 days a week including holidays. He's 54 and never been married. He's not gay; he's just married to the job. My boss is not a mean person; just controlling and anal retentive. He wants me not to talk about personal issues to people in the office, so I just do it when he's not around. Due to purchasing guidelines, most people in a support position have a state purchase card which allows people to purchase things w/o going thru the process of a po in an emergency. Due to the abuse of the state purchase card by the previous person, only he has access to the card now. He hates using it and will only use if he has to...so as a compromise, we decided to do petty cash. That way the faculty can come to me and get money if they need to purchase something w/o having to bug him. Now he wants to approve every petty cash transaction before hand; a form to be approved BY HIM he says so he knows what's in the budget. Even the tiniest amount; like $1.00, he has to know about it. I see the control monster becoming ever more prevalent in him. I am beginning not to like this man or respect him; I find him creepy and want to tell him what I think (I certainly don't though...) I had a long talk with the hubby about it tonight and he suggested I look for another position on campus or at the college nearby. For the most part, he stays in his office. I feel like I am always under a microscope with him;he's always looking with a "fine tooth comb". I think he's extremely inefficient and his controlness makes me in many ways inefficient. This is more a vent than anything else. So I throw this out to you, my fun-loving apostates, how do I handle him? One way is I refer everything to him; I mean everything. I give his phone number and e-mail and say to contact him. I tell the faculty to complain to him. My friend says that's the best way to handle it.

The worst kind of telemarketers - the credit card company that called to say we hadn't responded to their "low" offer...answer - I shredded it!

My sister was a big Mod Squad fan. I loved Peggy Lipton; she was so beautiful. She still looks great; she was on Alias a couple of years back. She was married to Quincy Jones.

Did anyone see or do a random act of kindness today?
by okie46 intoday while unloading my groceries, i witnessed a random act of kindness... someone in a ford explorer was waiting for a car to leave a parking spot so they could pull in there, they had been waiting for several minutes when finally the car in that spot backed out and left.
before the person in the ford explorer could pull into the spot, a lady in a ford taurus pulled on into that parking space.
the person in the ford explorer who had been patiently waiting, just sat there, they didn't honk or flip the person off, then the lady in the ford taurus realized that the other vehicle had been waiting for that spot and backed out to find another spot, letting the guy who had been waiting have his spot.

What my week brought me
by Pistoff ini don't usuallypost about personal issues; i am still fading; besides, i was raised in a family that would say we were doing well even if our house was burning down.. for the last month i have been stressing about seeing family from the west coast; my brother, out for many years but now back in and gung ho, is bringing his son and daughter out.
family reunion, of sorts.
i wanted to host, but then i realized that my disfellowshipped daughter would not be included.

Sorry to hear for your loss. Why can't you put your own collage of photos together on a poster board or something and have your own memorial for him. Whoever wants to come can. Have it at your house or at a favorite place your brother loved to gather. Then go out to his final resting place and talk to him; cry and embrace his memory.
We did this for a friend who had been D/F'd years ago. We all went to a cafeteria of all places, because he loved to go there and read his USA Today every day. Then we went out to his final resting place, a niche at the local cemetery. We brought balloons and let them go. It was truly symbolic of our love for this poor man who truly loved God but not the WT.

I also remember him from a movie called "Super Dad", which starred the late crazy man Bob Crane. He was a friend of his daughter. It was a lousy movie, and a young actor named Kurt Russell was also in it.
