  I would be interested in knowing how fighting free of a life of slavery and lies to walk in the sunshine and live a full and productive life in the real world amounts to giving up?

  Your post is based on subjective reasoning which is guaranteed to lead you to the conclusions you want it.

  When I was a child I used to sit in chair and ask general knowledge questions out loud. I would answer each one and amaze myself by knowing all the answers. My ego was shattered when an outspoken uncle dared to point out that I was bound to know all the answers because I was only asking questions that I already knew the answers to!

  He said I would only learn by asking questions I did not know the answers to and listening to other peoples answers.

  Are you really free from the Watchtower?

  the thread on how long it took you to get out of the organisation made me think.

  i honestly think anyone that spends more than half an hour per day on anti-jw sites like this is, psychologically, not out of the organisation at all, despite their best protests.

  the watchtower clearly still fascinates them to the point of an obsessive, compulsive need to frequently post on this website and others.

  Obsessive compulsive behaviour is an entirely different thing. It is abnormal behaviour and amounts to mental illness which inhibits and affects every moment of a persons day.

  Many on this site have give decades of their lives to a Society such as the Watchtower’s and still have family members captive to that slavery. To visit a site like this to discuss with other who are in the same situation is rational and normal behaviour.

  Many Jehovah’s Witnesses break the rules to use this site while hiding under a false name. The comments they read here may help them to understand why they are suffering from cognitive dissidence and realize that they will never find contentment while they are followers of the Watchtower Society.

  If they truly believed they had the truth in their lives they would not risk displeasing their god Jehovah to use this site.

  Does Anyone Shun the JWS

  the ones i grew up with always speak to me even the ones who have subsequently become elders and are pioneers.. they sicken me!!!.

  i would like to shun them, eventhough we were freinds growing up.

  these are pitiful people.

  As a result of the Jehovah’s Witnesses shunning policy I have lost my whole family. Parents, uncle, aunt, cousins, brother, sister, in laws and many friends.

  I can see little point in talking to a few stray witnesses who are prepared to break the rules. As a group these people support shunning and are responsible for the damage it does. I insist that they leave me alone unless they wish to apologise for the loss of my family as a result of their beliefs.

  There is a church wedding coming up in December. My wife’s cousin, a non Jehovah’s Witnesses, is marrying and we have been invited, along with a few Jehovah’s Witnesses. Given their view that clergy are the agents of Satan they have no right to attend such an occasion. I have also pointed out that they will not join in the ceremony but stand at the back in silent protest.

  I have made it clear that if they attend I will not be there. This makes a public statement that they are responsible for their ongoing malice and can not expect to mix in a place of worship to celebrate a couples future while shunning members of that family who will be there.

  Angry Witnesses

  everytime i look at videos talking/warning about jehovah's witness on youtube, i am always so shocked at the venemous replies from the dubs.

  they say things like "i can't wait to see your face when you realise we're right when armageddon comes" and "i can't wait for the day of jehovah when you apostate scumbags get obliterated".

  it's shocking.

  I pity them because they have lost the plot and have nothing to hurl at those who disagree with them, except hate and anger. I have been warned for more than 20 years that I am about meet my end at hand of the vengeful Jehovah.

  I am still here in rude health and enjoying a good life, while these demented and misguided people squander their lives. My relatives are dying around me like overheated flies.

  It brings me pleasure to watch them rant and rave and then have to wait and be disappointed again. The local door bashing JW's are scared of my apostate activities and cross the road to walk by my home. They never call on me for fear of contamination.

  If they ever decide to treat me in a civilised way, I would miss the notoriety I enjoy and the perverse pleasure I get from their frustration.

  Well I have never claimed to be nice!

  I don't doubt Ricard Branson's integrity and commend his foresight. It could just be that investing in future fuels is a very shrewd investment strategy.

  Still any man that operates at corporate level and refuses to wear a tie has my vote.

  This subject really frustrates me, because noone knows the answer for sure. If God/Jesus loves us so much why doesn't he make it clear in black and white who he actually is.

  The people who made the claims in the Bible about JC are all dead - so no good asking them where they got their ideas from.

  During two thousand years of knocking on his door there has been no comment from the big JC himself. It seems obvious that there is no one home. I can't even see a light on!

  i'm re-reading walpola sri rahula's wonderful book what the buddha taught and, on page 5, a couple of paragraphs immediately stood out for me considering the amount of islamophobia and nationphobias recently exhibited here.

  they read:.

  Of course the danger is that while not associating what we perceive to be truth with particular religions or races, labelling our own perception of truth as ‘truth’ is also a trap to be avoided.

  For example ‘all religion is a snare and a racket’ may be perceived as true but it is not an absolute truth and is not actually accurate. Our view of the world is coloured by our own perception and need. We then attempt to justify our view with many words.

  In the end we come down to the realization that attaching words of any kind to experience in an attempt to explain truth, misses the point of what truth is.

  Truth is what is.

  it seems that after rutherford's death that every wts publication was anonymous.

  that was done to create a subconscious belief in the reader of divine authorship.

  the watchtower is written by the fds and they are god's only channel of communication.

  The main source of instruction to the members comes from the Watchtower magazine, particularly the question and answer articles designed for the main Sunday meeting. The information in these articles is believed to reflect God’s thoughts to the members as revealed through the Society.

  These articles never state who wrote them. They are just accepted as spiritual food passed on by those at the very top of the organization. Over the many years that this policy has been in force, an aura of great mystery has built up and adds to the feeling of powerful invincibility that the Society enjoy. This anonymity helps to support the belief that God himself is communicating through the Watchtower. Due to this, no blame can ever be attributed to an individual for failed prophecies of changes in beliefs.

  I am, as always coming into this debate late. I have been busy enjoying subjective experiences. You do not have to believe me, it I enough that for me that I was enjoying myself. If I feel joy and then the cause of my joy turns out to be due to a distortion or misinterpretation of events, the joy was still real.

  We are all experiencing the same reality, we just perceive it differently. We interpret our experiences in a way that allows them to fit in to the world we have built in our minds. But however we structure things we are all sharing the same underlying reality and all experience is of value because the purpose of life is to experience through us and our awareness.

  Experience will always be subjective and flavoured by who we believe ourselves to be. If all experience was totally objective it would be a very boring and pointless world. The problem occurs when we try to label our experiences and then convert them in to belief.

  Just defining the word God, in an objective way is an impossibility. God has to be experienced as the totality of all existence not arrived at through an objective study. You won't find God in a book. Go pick some flowers or enjoy a sunset.
