my son came up to me last night and declared that he "doesn't" believe in any kind of higher power.
being eclectic pagan...this bothered me because i know for me, if i didn't have any kind of "faith", i'd be crushed.

I agree with what you are saying and have belief in the life force myself. It is based on experience and awareness and requires no faith.

the watchtower society has mishandled rules of greek grammar and has manipulated the wording of numerous biblical passages that reveal the deity of christ.
john 1:10 - "...the world came into existence through him..." .
colossians 1:16 - "...all things have been created through him..." .
The Deity of Christ can be substantiated by individual Biblical passages…
The existence of Father Christmas can be substantiated by individual passages found in many books. He can actually be seen and conversed with at many major stores during December.
Millions of children will testify to his existence and show you the presents he has brought them. Their parents will assure you, as they have their children, that he is real and actively flying through the heavens. How much more evidence do we need to believe.
You can keep your god RevFrank. I will be spending my holiday this year up north with a much kinder Father and I hope to come home with a present.

You don’t have to believe in your son or your husband to know they exist. You have absolute certainty that requires no faith.
Why invent a male deity and then by a leap of imagination and faith act as if he were real? The next thing is that you need other people, close to you, to believe as well.
If enough people join you the god becomes more of a reality. Talking to him helps keep him alive - of course he will never reply. Everyone needs some illusions to get through life but the god one just doesn’t work for so many people nowadays.
If you must inflict such trickery on your son, why not get him to believe in someone nice? Father Christmas will only bother him once a year to bring him presents. He will not judge or threaten him. And he even has a comfortable lap to sit on.
reading a previous thread where people mentioned the crazy people in their hall and what they would do during the meetings, i figured it needed a thread all to itself.
so what did the mentally ill or generally crazy people do during your meetings?
i don't have any good ones.
We had a guy who suffered from shell shock due to WW2. Some meetings he would be fine but every so often he would have a turn.
It took the form of this involuntary noise that went something like MEK MEEEK MEK MEK MEEEK MEEEK. It was something between a shout and a dog barking.
It was so loud that everything would stop for a moment. Frightened Children would start crying.
A visiting speaker who was not primed for this outburst asked to have the heckler removed! As I was just in my early teens I sat pinching myself to try and control my laughter. Crazy days!

i have found a lot of people no longer believe in god or jesus since leaving the organization.. im very shocked at this.
if you dont believe, can you tell me what brought to that conclusion?.

After my life experience, it has taken compassion and understanding to not give up that faith. God can wait his turn as I am presently dealing with life on earth.
All that would be of significant interest to me would be if God believed in me. When I say that I am takin a swipe at the personal male deity type of God that the Bible describes.
To believe in people, appreciate life and strive to be the best we can, is to me, the highest form of respect that can be demonstrated to the source of life.
this is the watchtower's equivalent to the theory of evolution - there is no evidence but it must be so.
in fact all the evidence points to the contrary.
there is not one new testament manuscript known today in which the tetragram appears and there is no evidence of a conspiracy to get rid of the tetragram.
Names are labels and needed to identify the millions of people and pets on our planet. If someone is all powerful and unique then they need only a title.
For example - President of the USA - Queen of England. I would have thought that - Almighty God - was a pretty good handle to get by on.
To argue over what personal name should be attached and how it is should be spelt, seems like a demotion to me.
Still Reverend Frank, if it makes you feel closer to God to call on him by a personal name, then all I can say is - Yeeeeeeh - Haaah - and more power to your elbow!

3 sisters were announced as such at this past meeting (2 of which have a family member who was recently d'f but the third had been pioneering for as long as anyone can remember)

Sometimes resigning from Pioneering is a statement of discontent.
In one affluent congregation there were four Pioneers including me. There was a pecking order based on wealth, pioneers were at the bottom of the heap. We received no encouragement or support from the full time workers. On summer bank holiday weekends they would be off on holiday while we carried on trying to get our hours in.
We were flat broke, hungry and disillusioned. We decided we had had enough and all four of us resigned as pioneers in one go.
The announcement was duly made. We had hoped that we would be asked for our reasons and our protest would have some impact but not one elder asked. I moved away to a much friendlier congregation. Over the next few years many members left of moved away. A few years later the congregation had halved in size.
