It is excellent; I write a lot for a living and when I send something out to colleagues for a critique they usually tell me that I got to involved and forgot the bigger audience. So, I tend to look for the same in other's writing. So please be assured that I think your piece is great and just wanted to suggest a couple of minor clarifications. I particularly like how succinct it is.

This is a bit unclear. Inform about what? Agree to who? Technically they did via the various Awake! pieces.
"The Watchtower then went further, demanding that its name be immediately removed from the UN's web site, in a futile attempt to hide their adulterous relationship. It was removed on or about noon of October 17, 2001. "
Do we know for sure that's why they did it? Also, will the public be able to make sense of "adulterous relationship. "
It's good, bx, very good, but I'd suggest making it slighly easier to follow for the nonJW.

i got into a discussion this am in the parking lot of safeway with a jw- and we got on the college issue- well i try to keep a few xeroxed copies of certain articles in the car _ college- transplants- alternative service.
and this are the best ones to show the control of ones life that wt has on it's members.
and i got my girl to admit that based on the most recent 3 week service meeting part back in july-august that ran for 3 weeks and 25+yrs of wt articles like this- how could anyone who wants to be considered spiritual say that the wt like other churches encourage it's youth to go to college to be dr and dentist, etc.

as i always am when i turn to your discussion board.. after reading the unbelievable news about the bestiality practiced by the governing body, i have been looking for a way to break the news in my local area.
i would really like to have the newspaper to pick up the story so it could in turn provoke a discussion with my wife.. i was thinking an opinion / letter to the editor article might help in this respect, and so i wrote one up.
i am posting it here to see if anyone has any comments or suggestions.. the worship of the seemingly powerful.

Excellent letter. I think that no one approach works best. One thing to consider doing is to include copies of the three Guardian articles which tell the UN story very nicely. You might even want to make ref. to The Guardian explicitly in your letter - I don't know.
I suggest this because it is my impression that the UK press and the US press operate somewhat differently. Lots of local US papers, and even larger ones, rely heavily on reports from AP etc. The UK papers also do this but tend also to have more independent investigative reporting of international affairs. So, local papers (apart from local news) tend to rely rather heavily on AP originating stories. Since the Guardian is an internationally known paper, and esp. the Weekly this might help improve the odds.
BEcaus ethe Washington Post is a sister paper of the Guardian and also contributes to the Gdn Weekly maybe that's an angle too.
