I totally agree with everyone that says I should tell my grandmother in her place. We've gone over this before and she seems to not care. *Sigh*. It's the cross I have to bear.
Thanks for the help though everyone
i was wondering what has been the most embarrassing question asked of you by a family member.
the reason why i'm asking is because i have just had an unforgettable experience with my grandmother.
my sister, grandmother and i were sitting at the kitchen table at my mom's birthday party.

It's not so much a good story now as it will be when I tell my friends. It's a good retell story.

I was wondering what has been the most embarrassing question asked of you by a family member. The reason why I'm asking is because I have just had an unforgettable experience with my grandmother. My sister, grandmother and I were sitting at the kitchen table at my mom's birthday party. She started asking us if we had regular periods because she has menstrual problems when she was young. This was invasive enough, but then my sister looked at me and said "Watch out! You're gonna have kids!". This prompted me to say "No way! I'm not having any!". My grandmother looked at us and then asked, "You girls aren't sexually active are you?". Keep in mind my sister is 28 and I'm 24, what does she think?! So turning my head away I mumble, "No, I don't have a boyfriend right now, so no." Then she asks, "Are you girls still virgins?" I looked at my sister and looked around for someone to save me. No such luck. My sister wasn't gonna talk so I said, "Yes grandma I am." Then she replies, "Good, because that's a special gift you share with your husband." AHHH! What the hell is wrong with her? In telling my mom this story (this is her mother), she recounted a story in which her grandmother asked her if she had ever had an orgasm. Unfortunately, my mom was dumb enough to answer her question.
Does anyone have any good stories like this?
i remember years ago after giving a public talk, the sister who was playing the piano had to rush to the front of the hall to get ready to play the opening song for the watchtower study.
what she didn't realize was that her dress was neatly tucked in to her pantyhose for all to see, since she had just come out of the bathroom.
the attendant was trying to literally run behind her to tell her of what she was exposing, but couldn't keep up with her.
This was not so funny at the time, but later it became funny. Once while at the bookstudy, the room kept getting hotter and hotter. This was in San Diego and it was summer anyways. The room got hotter throughout the whole study. People were sweating and the guy whose house it was being held at wouldn't open the windows. So finally at the end of the interminable study, the brother says "I'm sorry it's so hot in here, but I'm cooking a brisket." My dad nearly had a fit and from then on he was called Brother Brisket by my family.
Another time, the bookstudy was being held at my parents' home. The elder's son sat by this big window that my mom had placed this windchime in. Apparently, the study proved to be boring to him because he fell asleep. We watched as his head rolled back and banged into the windchimes, causing a big ruckus and interrupting the whole study.
just wondered if anyone can give me a suggestion.
i have a very good friend who is a jw.
we were having a discussion the other day and i told him i recently sa the movies harry potter and the lord of the ring.
I asked a JW student of mine about reading the Harry Potter Books. She said she could read the books, but couldn't watch the movies. She really didn't have an explanation for it. Maybe when she reads the books she can imagine Jehovah behind the magic.

Has anyone ever seen the Latino version of Miss Cleo? He's called Maestro Carlos. He does tarot readings just like her. It's really hilarious to watch him do his spiel in Spanish.
from months of reading posts, it seems that many of you are still somewhere between borgdom and completely in the world.. who is going to celebrate that wonderful, silly day, valentines day, guilt free?.
i hope today is special for all who care about others, for all of you, whether you celebrate or not.
I am celebrating completely guilt free! I'm giving my students candy in all my classes except the one with a JW. I don't want to make her feel bad.
i just happened to glance a the date as i was posting 2-13-02. one day before valentines day.
i realized that i don't have a valentine.
i subscribe to the idea that it is better to be alone and wish you were with someone than be with someone and wish you were alone.
I'm alone this Valentine's Day too. There's nothing worse than buying candy for your friends because you have no sweetie to share it with.
i like the jimi hendrix 'freedom', i blast that frequently.. any songs that speak to your sense of freedom, now?.

okay - here we go again..how many of us are in a helping field?.
i liked larc's post on my last thread - and want to explore it too - why did you choose the field and did you do so before or after the borg??.
so lets see how many of us there are..i bet alot.. this includes lawyers, and heath professional as well as therapists and teachers.... lets hear from everyone!!
I am in a helping field. I am a teacher at a junior high school. I was going to college shortly before I left the borg. I didn't attend meetings for several years while finishing college. My family and I finally disassociated ourselves last year, which was my first year teaching. I chose to be a teacher because I love it. I like being with young people all day. They're funny and I see results from my work. I was a teacher's aid in college and knew I wanted to teach.
