the history of the watchtower organization is kept secret from new members and its own history is proof that the god of the bible would not accept these false prophets and false doctrines in his church body.. the founder of the jehova witness was named charles russell from pa. russell stated that in 1799 the end times started and that in 1874 christ invisibly returned to earth to rule.

russells prophecy was that in 1914 the world would come to an end.

russell changed that date to 1915 and later to 1918. russell claimed that only his published books could allow people to correctly understand the bible.

Welcome, Newbie. Bravo. Well said. My goodness you have been a busy little beaver. Thanks for all the reference info. What amazed me is when I found out that only one person on that Bible writing Committe (Fred Franz) had any knowledge of foreign lanaguages and proven to be pretty inept at that. He had only 2 years of college Greek and was self taught in Hebrew. Hardly the credentials for rewiting a book that almost 6 million people would follow to the tee. Talk about irresponsible. No wonder they won't let anyone know who was on the Translation Committee. Any thinking person (and yes I realize that is a JW problem) would have a problem with the credibility of that translation. Remain anonymous to "give the glory to God" my foot!

Favorite Activity Since Leaving The Borg

just about everyone i have talked to has started doing some different activities since leaving the borg.

just out of curiousity what would be your favorite activity?.

mine is flag football.

DANCE, DANCE, DANCE.... Not that I couldn't with the JW's if I didn't mind moving just my head, hands, and feet. [8>] Moving anything else in the middle was considered sinful. Definition of dance is interpreting music through the body. I guess JW's consider head, hands, and feet the only acceptable body part to move? And being single, there was no one to dance with. Even though the WTS said there was nothing wrong with a married brother dancing with a single sister, it very rarely happened. I ballroom, Salsa, Swing, Texas Push, disco, line dance, country, you name it. When I used to teach ballroom (many moons ago), we used to say "Would you like to Trot a Fox?" when asking a gentleman to dance. Hence, my name Trotafox.

And I also love the FREEDOM, without guilt, of using the Internet.

Having a ball and glad to be out.

California Sunshine: I LOVE that name. I guess you could say I'm a little (lot) angry but more hurt than angry. My Friend(?) has been a JW for about 15 years now. What makes me mad is that she knows me. She knows that when I smell somthing fishy, I dig and dig until I finally find the cause. And yet she sides with the WTS without even listening to me. States I was "looking for an excuse". Oh, well. As Ray Franz said some people need to have things nice, neat, and all spelled out for them so all they have to do is follow the instructions. It would take a miracle to get her out. I keep hoping her husband will send me an E-mail (he's not a JW) but I know his computer is not working right now. She probably doesn't want him to get another one because he spent so much time on the Net. For all I know, he may have already been in the ex-JW sites and is just keeping quiet because if she's happy, he's happy. Why upset the apple cart. Except our 26-year friendship ended up being the sacrificial lamb! Ya know what? I gotta give over this and let this friendship GO-O-O-O. I don't like being mad. Stress does weird things to my body.

Sweetone: NE Ohio, huh. Where? I was born in Youngstown, OH. Moved to Cuyahoga Falls, went to high school in Troy, and moved to Akron after high school. Left for Florida in 1975. I really miss Ohioans. Being an Ohioan, do you know what pop is? When I moved here, they had no idea. "You want a what?"

well the josh lyman character is stuck in a high school where he was giving a lecture, and he asks the kids to think and fill in the blank to this question:.

"muslim extremists are to islam what _______ are to christianity.".

50th anniversary of the show.. anyway, lately i have been doing more thinking about everything.

Hi, Vitameat:
First of all, the WTS is NOT God's organization. You must understand that. God would not choose or create an organization to use that had an occult beginning (Jehovah living on the star Halcyon?? Pyramids ???, etc. etc.) Their doctrine is twisted. Their Bible is twisted. Get a new Bible. ABSOLUTELY read Ray Franz' "Crisis of Conscience" and "In Search of Christian Freedom". The sooner the better. He's excellent. Keep us posted.

Crisis Of Conscious

most of you have read about my mother having problems with the dubs yet still believing that they are the truth.

she surprised me today by going on kent and randy's websites and reading them -- she did this for most of the day.

now she is reading crisis of conscious.

That's really great! Ray's books are very helpful. His books (and plenty of prayers) gave me the courage to leave. Hopefully, she will find his discussions enlightening indeed. Keep us posted.

the recent events have brought back many of the nightmarish doctrines drilled into my head as a young child and i am having difficulty working through them on my own.

Trottafox here. I live in Plantation. I, too, just DA'd in June and new to this board. I know what you're thinking and how you're feeling. Personally, I don't do the prophecy thing anymore. Everyone has a different version anyway. When examined openly, the scriptural support for JW doctrine is so very thin it's ready to shatter. They manipulate through fear and twisting of scripture to ensure JW loyalty and survival of the WTS. No organization or church has the right to come between you and your relationship with God. It most definitely is not God's organizaton. Serve God; not the WTS. Jesus Christ died for all...not just JW's. He (not the WTS) is the way, the truth and the life for ALL people. Relax! You are in His hands.

You MUST read 2 books by Raymond Franz: "Crisis of Conscience" (read first) and "In Search of Christian Freedom". Available on Net only at ex-JW sites & also Web bookstores. Ray Franz was a JW elder for 40 yrs, Gov Body member for 8 or 9 yrs, & head of the Writing Committee in Brooklyn. He is no longer a JW. In the C of C, he offers some very interesting insight (expose?) into the inner workings of the Gov Body and JW doctrine. You will be shocked! "Christian Freedom" analyzes JW doctrine & lack of scriptural evidence thereof. I'd advise you get another Bible immediately as the NWT is a fraud. Just enjoy the freedom of talking to people about spiritual matters without the pressure of having to convert them.

You did the right thing. Don't let these events scare you anymore than necessary. Anthrax..Smanthrax. It's pretty hard to get. If it makes you feel any better, I work at Port Everglades. I look out my window over one of the Nation's largest petroleum tank farms with nothing but water behind me. I'm aware but not losing any sleep over it.
