Correction about rude posts:
Hawkaw's posts (previous - late 2001)
DungBeetle's posts (this thread)
Hawkaw reviled me previously, DungBeetle previously AND on this thread. Sorry for any confusion. We're all apparently a little "off" today. Except maybe Larc.
p.s. Larc, thanks for the respectful reply.

To those who replied:
Thanks for clarifying. My eyes read "Fred" but it registered as "Ray." So I will take the blame for it.
MY DUMB MISTAKE!
I'm glad I invited others to inform me if I was mistaken. Ray and Hawkaw just didn't seem to fit. And remembering some of his/her comments to me, I just couldn't believe they were one and the same.
Actually, I've been in the organization since the mid-80's, so it was a pretty big blunder to have read "Fred" and pictured "Ray." Embarrasing too!!! (blush blush) But I can admit when I'm wrong. I think my shock and emotional reaction set off a temporary brain rot.
However, that doesn't negate what I said about Hawkaw's approach. A person has only to read his/her response on THIS thread (and others) to understand what I mean. So I guess we'll have to just stay out of each other's way and agree to disagree. I won't return the reviling and put-downs with equal measure.
It's true, I'm sometimes overly sensitive. It would be great if everybody liked me. But I'm reaching a point where, if some people don't like me, I can live with that. I don't like it, but my world isn't going to end. (See what a coupla years of therapy will do for you?)
Anyway, I know I'm not always popular here. And those of you who have read my posts know that, despite the things going wrong in the organization, I still choose to stay. I want to see the organization do the right thing. And where it has veered, I want to see it corrected. I want to stay in and try to be a good example. For me, it is the right thing to do. But I'm not shutting myself off to all information either.
Which is why, at times, I do come to this board.

I just looked back at some of my posts from late 2001, and most of your responses to my posts were very sarcastic, rude, and disrespectful.
If Hawkaw really is Fred Franz, I'd like to ask you this:
I thought you left the organization because of moral outrage over learning unloving and contradictory practices within it? If so, why have you not gone on to treat others with the decency and respect you feel you didn't get?
The reason I ask this is that, when I look back at our conversations of late 2001, I see myself posed questions respectfully and honestly. And I see you posting disrespectful, denigrating answers, especially if I didn't adopt your viewpoint or accept your arguments right away. I'm not sure, but you might have even been one of those who called me a troll!
I had planned on reading your books to see if the claims in it were substantiated. But in light of this new information, I may have to reconsider.
To leave an organization out of claims of it being hurtful, neglectful and bad, and then to go on and treat others badly yourself, is not impressive.
I still can't believe it! And you want others to consider leaving the organization to follow your path in life? Hmmmmm. I'm just so not-impressed. This information puts a whole new spin on everything.
Please fill me in if I'm somehow misinformed. But your approach to people really hurts your credibility, I think.
i just got an email from dateline, saying it was going to be about "chandra levy.
" also, it says "dateline friday," but here in co, dateline is on "tuesdays.
" so i am confused.
OOps, spoke too soon, before reading all the posts. Scully answered my question.
Sorry!

Well, not to seem stupid but, does Dateline air more than one time a week? Maybe I'm signed up to get emails on the Friday show. Because every time the email comes it says "NBC Dateline Friday."
Could that be it?

Is it not airing????
hi .
i want to direct this question mainly to those who are still jws who post on this board, xjws please feel free to comment.. if the governing body were to call on you all including your children to congregate together each at it's respective kingdom halls,as persecution of gods people has reached it's climax and you have to fight to the death, would you follow that call.
I might very well gather together for protection, if that were necessary.
However, the term "fight to the death" should tip off any serious student of the Bible. We are to be like the Boreans and make sure what we are told is "really so." If anyone were to tell us to kill, that would amount to a violation of scripture. So we should "obey God as ruler rather than men."
am i the only one who sees it as a bit odd that a large number of jw apologists has suddenly come out of the woodwork on this board to defend the actions of the watchtower society toward bill bowen, barbara anderson and the pandelos?
for the longest time, virtually the only ones on this board who advocated an essentially orthodox jw viewpoint were you know and nytelecom/mavman (though each of them could easily be classed with us "apostates" if the watchtower knew of their disagreements with the party line).. but suddenly, we have a bunch of totally loyal, utterly doctrinaire jw apologists posting almost exclusively on threads related to the pedophile issue.
most of them are taking next to impossible positions from any reasonable standpoint.

OldHippie,
Interesting you should mention your approach to reporting time. My husband and I have been discussing our discomfort with reporting time. We understand why the Society wants to keep track of how the work is going in different parts of the earth. But we also realize how easy it is for folks (including me!) to become focused on "getting in time," when we need to stay focused on people.
We've been considering ways to approach the monthly time report issue. The last two months, we went out a couple of times but didn't turn in a slip. Your idea might work for us. Or we may just tell the brothers we'd rather not report the time, but "not let our right hand know what our left is doing."
To SYN: Good idea. Don't respond to JWs. Conversing at length with someone who resorts to putdowns and spitefulness would be a misuse of my own valuable time as well.
