If I'm not mistaken, I believe that story is incorrect. I read on CNN.com that the gov't has since removed that sentence.
Second thing, Islam is not based on just the Old Testament. They are (or so believe) the descendants of Ishmael, the son by means of Abraham and Hagar. They also believe in Jesus as another prophet. Islam is merely a 'continuation' of God's Word. Now whether Islam is a evil religion, imho, can be debated until the end of time. Supposedly they are supposed to be peace-loving. If anyone wants a good book to read, try "Why I Am Not a Muslim" by Ibn Warraq. I couldn't put it down. It makes the current child abuse problem among dubs look like child's play. According to the Koran, Mohammed advocated sex with young boys. That's what Warraq says anyway. I'd hate to imagine God telling Mohammed that it's ok to sodomize young children. But hey, you decide....

I had the same exact experience zen...Got totally shitfaced at 18...somehow the elders found out about it...my future brother-in-law was removed from being a m.s., I got taken off the mikes...my parents were so ashamed of me. I remember going out in service the following saturday and just hung my head in shame while we were on a coffee break, while my parents tried to maintain composure during a conversation with other dubs that were there. I know it sucks. Try not to let it get to you.
You know what tho? It was one of the best things that happened to me! A little pain to help you see the light is not so bad...

that was the composite sign, that all happens in 1 generation.
they said there were earthquakes thousands of years ago, wars thousands of years ago, famines thousands of years ago, but that wasnt the sign of jesus.

Where Have All The Pretty Women Gone?

in the summer, there would be dozens of pretty girls strolling along, enjoying their lunch breaks.. high-heeled, well groomed and shapely of leg and well turned ankle, these delightful creatures smelled as good as they looked and were a real tonic to an over worked young man such as me.. so where are all the pretty women now?
all i see these days are skinny women with their boobies pushed up to their chins and half a pound of shrapnel punched through their noses and ears.

My grandfather flew bombing missions in the Pacific during WWII with Robert Altman.
My other grandfather faught in the Battle of the Bulge on the other side. Didn't know anyone famous but it was still cool I think.

metatron, you hit the nail on the head. That happened in my old congregation. Elders wanted to remodel the hall at a cost of about 20-30 thousand. The vote came, and about 30 hands went up against the resolution. A couple weeks went by so they could seduce others into seeing it their way, and when the second vote came up a few weeks later, about 15 hands went up against the resolution. They went ahead and got the loan from the society to replace a carpet that didn't need to be replaced, pay someone to redo the chairs, and redo the walls. They wouldn't even do any of the work themselves to save on labor costs. The hall had been paid off too. Wasteful bastards.

What are You all Doing Here?
by TisInYourWishbone ina friend of mine recommended i peruse this forum because he is of the impression i would find it rewarding.
the basis of his recommendation was due to a very long friendship and not due to any association (that i do not have) with jehovahs witnesses.
