  I attended a convention in France. We were all connected to Paris where David Splane made the announcement.

  Every attendant received a hard copy of the new Bible, just immediately delivered to our seat after the announcement. Except for people in the french islands or french-spoken coutries in Africa : they will have a more robust version because of their weather conditions, but the supplier was late.

  For the congregations who already had their convention last weeks, they will receive hard copies starting next week. BTW, the new word for congregation in France is now "Local assembly".

  Major changes to convention security beginning in 2017

  short info on interesting changes to the major conventions this year: there will be a new security concept that will be implemented at all regional conventions in 2017.. similar to other major events (e.g.

  festivals, concerts), there will be admittance controls in stadiums.. - at each entrance, there will be a massive presence of attendants that look at each visitor.. - there will be pocket checks at the entrance.. - suspicious persons are no longer left on the convention grounds.. - suppliers to the stadium will be intensively inspected by attendants.. - there will be a special sign for attendants that must enter the stadium before 7.30 am.

  all others (even all attendants) can only enter after 7.30 am..

  Be careful this doc is relative to ONE specific region (East) in France, and the numbers mentioned above are on a specific found for solidarity.

  Any way, since the change 4 years ago, nobody understands in France where the money goes today. When the guys gives the numbers from the platform we do not have a complete view of what is sent.

  what a fine example, he said....... let s imagine the faces of the parents in the kh!

  i was happy to see i was not the only one to find it crazy.. if you have a child, you know how mature he is at 5. how can a child preach 2.5hours/day after 7hours of school and homework to do??

  But as Losch spoke in French, I'm sure I understood correctly. My wifewho is still IN too, we had a long discussion in the car about it, she was very upset.

  And I can't lie, I was raised as a JW (just kidding!)

  Even if you don't speak French, you will notice the sentence in red near the bottom of the page :

  Sorry, no record of it, we were not allowed to do that .

  At the very beginning of the event they said that we were encouraged to take notes, but we should'nt share, even with brothers & sisters. We could only summarize by our own words. Do you have something to hide?

  
  

  By the way, he gave his speech in French. Nice, but sometimes very hard to understand... and as he was reading his paper, he was very boring... (or maybe it is always the case ?!)

  Is Watchtower's stance against education only for North American witnesses

  i was reading on a european ex jw forum where some feel that watchtower's railing against higher education is primarily for north america issue.

  this is due that many in usa and canada leave home to leave on campus.

  it was mentioned that many young european jw attend universities and its not frowned on.. i found this odd because i heard what morris and losch said about education in italy.

  in France, we hadt he same instructions on not going to university. However, it seems that in most cong (depending of your BOE) these instructions were only counsels, not mandatory. 10 years ago, you had the choice to follow or not. 

  Today, I think it is a bit more complicated, we are pressured to follow more closely our American mother. Depending of your cong., if your father is an elder, if you want to avoid him some trouble while going to university, you have to pionneer every time you can. 

  Same for the beard.

  France - Bethel extension project

  at the mid week meeting we had a letter, and a video to explain the extension project for the french bethel for the next 3.5 years.

  the video was 5min long, in 3d (nice job in fact...) to show the future buildings for flats and offices (translation, video dubbing...).

  I had a look on your introduction post, we are in very similar situations, and maybe close geographically (Paris - east). Sometimes during meeting I wonder how many in my Hall go to this forum...it gives hope ! Or maybe not...don't know...
