Chat with Elder, how would you reply?
by awakening inhad a sit down chat with an elder who is aware of my doubts.
we were on the subject of new light, i was saying that if the org changes a teaching then the old teaching was wrong and cannot qualify as truth at the time it was taught, so where did the falsehood come from?.
his response was the gb is imperfect!!

"they have done a superb job of setting up," he says.. the church will hold services for its 450-strong congregation at its new home as well as running counselling sessions and operating an op shop and a weekly soup kitchen.. "we believe in reaching out to the community.

I had never experienced the benefit of a true friend until leaving the JW's.
Being able to speak my mind, share my faults and genuinely grow as a believer is in stark contrast to the culture of fear created by the non biblical Judicial Committee process.
Your question suggests reform. To what end?

MP: I have zero proof. I am in the pool of the great majority of humankind that has to rely on the efforts of the few. Someone else is digging up history. Others are examining and authenticating the find. Then someone else expounds on what the find is and how it relates to the era it belonged to. I get to comfortably lie on my couch, causually read and biasly weigh the information.

Was Jesus of Nazareth a real person?
Yes
Was he who he claimed to be?
This seems to be where the debate should be held. If he is not who he claimed to be then the debate ends and we continue to rail against anyone who foolishly continues to believe. If he is who he says he is then we too have to accept that Jesus validated much of the OT that we find repulsive and individually process this into our belief system.

wouldn't this be the most loving and sensible thing to do?
for instance, this coming thursday god repeatedly strikes mount kilamanjaro to the point that it reads in hebrew, "god exists, i just did this.
