It's the same story line. Except this is a full length (1 1/2 hour) movie.

what i have realized studying JWs,the bitter truth
by spirituk inwell, i have been studying jws religion ,my cousin is a jw and i have visited him a lot of times.i have watched his way of living and things like that.i have been at the district convention last week.i read so many things from both sides.i came to the conclusion that if someone believes god exists then it is so easy and he should be a jehovah's witness.sadly its true and that is why so many people are and every year they baptised even more.. stories about jws reducing?wrong.. facing problems?
false.. everybody in the convention had an ipad ,iphones etc with the bible in it.
+ wifi .

Unfortunately you have been misinformed. I'm sure your sources - your cousin and others - mean well and feel like they are sharing facts. Perhaps they are young and born into the religion.
I come from a family that is four generations deep as Jehovah's Witnesses.
This religion does not create people with wealth. This religion does not encourage self improvement or a positive outlook on life. This religion demands complete devotion and personal commitment from each individual. This religion preaches love and compassion on the surface. The deeper message is destruction, judgement and condemnation.
In reality the life of a Jehovah's Witnesses is filled with conformity, fear, depression, guilt, unworthiness, minimal education & minimal financial security. It encourages self-righteousness, arrogance, judgementalism, control and intolerance.
That is the bitter 'Truth'.

intel on warwick project
by stuckinamovement inthe committee assigned to build the new complex was called into a meeting with the governing body.
they were told " you finish this project by january 1 2017. we want the keys to the complex and will be headquartered there by that date, do you understand?".
when the brothers protested and said that it would take 6 years for the project to be complete and if they moved that fast there would be many mistakes, the gb responded, "we don't care, that is your deadline".

"Shirley's" link on page two of this thread is the more likely real reason for the new completion date.
I keep having to remind myself that the leadership of this Org. is REACTIONARY and not proactive. They now have an official move out date for major buildings in Brooklyn... So, it's giddy-up time for all the volunteers!

....meanwhile (getting back on topic)
Perhaps the leadership is 'suddenly' realizing that using volunteer contractors and laborers poses real problems with a job of this magnitude. Without the pressure to meet deadline (in lieu of payment for services rendered), the contruction of the new universal headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses may get completed years later than a typical construction project.
If you've worked on a WT build or remodel, you know that lack of leadership, skilled know-how, scheduling delays, failed supply lines, material waste and general confusion within the labor staff during the whole process is common.
If they begin to do the math, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that building materials increase in cost every year. I'd say the projected budget has hit the ceiling and the accountants are beginning to sweat.

I attended university in the 1980's and - in August of my first semester - immediatly lost all 'special prividges' - sound, reading the WT, Service Meeting demonstrations, etc.
Open the WT library and search for college or university. In the 1950's the WT Society condemned the educated as pompous and 'high minded'.

Where has the money gone??????
by joe134cd inafter all the real estate sell offs, im confidently sure that the wts must be a flush with cash (well at least for the present time).
i cant believe how blissfully un-aware the local dubbies are about where the money has gone and what it is been used for.
so my question is where has all this money gone??

I'm not a headquarters 'insider', but I have long time friends who are in position and are active in the expansion project. From what I understand the liquidation of the Brooklyn properties was being set in motion a decade ago - for multiple reasons. One was the impracticality of owning so many buildings throughout the borough. Another was the increasing costs and amount of time required to maintaining these properties/keeping them up to code.
So the reasoning was to move upstate, consolidate all the offices and residences and make something brand spanking new.
Why they chose to relocate to Warwick is something I don't have an answer to. In my mind it would have made much better economic sense to settle in the middle of the US - to be centrally located and where land is much more affordable.

The Watchtower Society has always (since the 1920's) been negative about higher education. Now the 'policy' is that one can earn a two-year/Associates degree, certification or specialized short-term training without negative repercussions. Persons who promote higher education in the congregation risk being removed as elders, ministerial servants and pioneers (March 6, 2012 letter to all bodies of elders in the United States).
The Org. does not want its members pursuing an EDUCATION.
60% of those raised/born in 'the truth' in the United States leave the religion when they become adults (Pew Report / Forum).

I would suggest that you find your copy (or YouTube) of "Young People Ask - How Can I Make Real Friends?"
Unfortunatly, this is the reality of being a Jehovah's Witness. It sounds like it's time for you and your wife to make some important life decisions.
