What would happen if two legally married, same sex, people wished to become JW's ?
Or for an even more head-scratching problem for JW's: what would happen if two legally married, same sex people with children wished to become JW's?
it would be interesting to have some present (stonewall?
) at these meetings to witness and record talk number three on the tms.. talk 3 - "what the bible says about homosexuality" (reasoning book p.368-369).
the reasoning book tells us in part:.
What would happen if two legally married, same sex, people wished to become JW's ?
Or for an even more head-scratching problem for JW's: what would happen if two legally married, same sex people with children wished to become JW's?
i think so.
they rejoice over celebrating the 9/11 attacks..
I dread to think how much worse things would be now, though, if they had decided to arm what were then the "rebels" in Syria over a year ago.
the society always speaks about all the wonderful people and characters in the bible.. they always too speak of many of them as being so humble, faithful, loyal, diligent, loving, kind, wise, merciful etc, and worthy of imitation.
also of how god blessed them followed by endless examples and reasons why we today should imitate them.. .
they also speak of how wonderful it would be to meet some of these people in the future 'new system' and have often depicted scenes where the the survivors of armageddon would be gathered around some ancient resurrected faithful asking them questions and listening to their stories of times past.
I'd like to meet that guy who got killed for picking up wood on the wrong day and ask him if he thinks his God is merciful, loving and just.
the letter has appeared at last - just for uk.
it is a money grab for the new bethel which has been approved.
there is a video to be shown - just watched it - brief summary of uk bethels, why current one is too small, why we need money to build a new one.
I'm told the video is about 7 minutes long, as part of a 15 minute special item.
my wife and i spent last evening, as so many did, concerned for the king family and their little boy ashya (bbc report).
it's clear that blood is not an issue in their decision to take ashya away from hospital and the vital medical attention that he needs.
the watchtower office of public information also denied "that their decision is in any way motivated by any religious convictions".. hmmm.
Stolen from reddit:
Our Kingdom Ministry, September 1992, p. 5-6:
"Safeguarding Your Children From Misuse of Blood" "When there is a crisis, elders may consider it advisable to arrange a 24-hour watch at the hospital, preferably by an elder with the patient’s parent or another close family member. Blood transfusions often are given when all relatives and friends have gone home for the night. ... What if a doctor or a hospital intends to get a court order to transfuse your child? Is this the time to quit, assuming that there is nothing more that can be done? By no means! It may still be possible to avert a transfusion. Preparation for such a possibility should be made ahead of time. ... But it should be made clear to all concerned that you, as parents, feel an obligation to continue to do all that you can to avoid a transfusion. This is your God-given responsibility. It is not transferable."

Geoffrey Jackson did the audio for the reading of those verses in the "audio drama", so it seems like all of the GB were trying to get themselves into the program in some way.

respectful_observer - you might also want to put down the 41 branches closed in the last 3 years. Surely that's gotta save some cash, no?

transcript of the talk from the 2014 uk district convention (aug 2014).. sunday morning.. symposium: anticipate future kingdom blessings!
(part 6 "new scrolls").
(speaker not known).
This talk was possibly my candidate for the worst talk of the convention.
You don't even need to go beyond the title - the verse simply does not say "new" scrolls.
Edit: You got there first sir82!
This was a talk made out of thin air.
probably nothing of major note but there is an adjustment to the service meeting of w/c 1st september to allow for a 15 min local needs the society have asked the elders to deliver.
this is in uk and i've no idea if it affects other regions.. if it's uk only then i suspect it's either specifically about donations or more likely the status of the new branch facility, asking for volunteers/money.
given that the elder delivering it in our hall is prominent on the local rbc then i suspect the latter.. .
I can see this going down quite badly in the congregation here.
Many folks are still feeling the cost of the regional (and some international) convention accommodation costs, and have the one-day assembly accommodation costs coming very soon too.
They didn't do the donation slips at the congregation here yet (no, it doesn't have a loan and no resolution was passed) so it will be interesting to see what they do, if the letter stipulates they must do the donation slip thing.
