My mother became a JW when I was around 4. For a long time, I believed her when she would tell me that it was the only true religion...gag. Sorry makes me ill when I hear the word truth and that cult in the same line. When I was a little older I researched it and was also convinced it was what it said it was. My only mistake was taking their word for it. Fast forward a few years later, I had a few things happen that I just could not ignore and decided to use the internet to help me in researching, but this time I had the help in finding information in the Watchtower's publications that showed me otherwise. If I believe in something I will defend it, but once I learn that someone has lied to me, I don't have time for that nonsense in my life and will drop it like a steaming hot potato.

i have/had a jw friend who has five daughters.. she was a born in as her daughters were also.

two of the daughters are out and have waken up.

I was thinking about what has been said about the children who leave the Watchtower and thus get kicked out of their family home by their JW family. Not so much the dead at Armageddon, because I no longer believe those fear tactics. But yet on the other hand what is going to happen when those JW parents have become elderly and they need assistance from their children whom they turned their backs on. Or the JW children who stayed in, and also turned their backs on their own siblings, when they come begging for money to help with eldercare or funeral expenses.

When should you Disassociate yourself?

i have been having discussion with my sister (relative), who is an active witness, about writing a letter of disassociation.

the reason being is that i have not attended the meetings in over a year and it's been 4 years since i have went out in the jw ministry.. i going to try to sum this topic up.

my sister think that i should not da myself because i have not done any immoral act in her thinking.

Why give the Organization the power? I don't look at it in that way. 18 years ago my husband and I both disassociated by sending in our letters. There has not been one single day that either of us has once regretted this decision. Our reason for doing it was this. We know that the Watchtower keeps our files and everything in it, including those letters. We wanted those letters in our files so if the government ever does turn their attention to the Watchtower and the government did get their hands on the Watchtower's files on their members, I wanted it to be known that we are no part of that group, when we left it and why we left it.

When we left the Watchtower we didn't know about the Watchtower's involvement with the UN's NGO relationship, and especially the child abuse scandal that fully being exposed today. If I hadn't left it before the child abuse knowledge, I sure would have after learning that. I too was a victim of child abuse, but I never went to the elders about it. Knowing now what I know, I'm very glad I didn't because if I had, my abuser would have killed me.

With all the things that I am learning about my former religion, my decision is this. Once a person learns of the corrupt and evil things another is doing, and they don't do anything about it, by just remaining in it and being quiet about it, they are just as guilty as the one who is doing it.

My own mother would rather see my death

apparently, according to my mother, the worst thing that could happen to me is not dying in a car crash or getting cancer but instead would be me leaving jehovah and his organization.

i of course realize this is the position of jws but to hear my own mother verbalize it on a gentle walk in the woods was painful to say the least.

needless to say, i cannot tell her i am mentally out..

This is the main reason I decided to do research on the Watchtower. There is no good reason for people to turn their backs on their children, or look past their suffering regardless of what the reason it.
