  Should I just tell my parents

  lately i've been feeling just so fed up with this stupid religion i really can't take it anymore!

  i'm starting to think that maybe i should just tell my parents how i really feel.

  if they treat me too badly or kick me out i could probably stay with my non jw aunt.. ive just reached my breaking point, i don't really care what people think of me anymore.

  Sorry about your parents. That's got to be a hard pill to swallow. Thank God you didn't get baptized. Lisa gives very good advice.

  At this point, you don't have to be a good Jw. You can refuse meetings and service etc. Sounds like they are telling you to live a double life for their own status in the cong. If you refuse and they get abusive, call the cops first. (When the cops come for domestic problems, the reflection is so bad on your parents to the BORG, that they will likely be put on restrictions in the hall, and loss of elder status.) But that would be an extreme move on your part.

  Unless your aunt get guardianship, your parents will have some control.

  The good news is, at least you know where you stand.

  Hi BW,

  Giving what I know, it is better to fade than to quit. You should wait till 18, but you can start your fade now. Here's why I think you should wait until 18. (and set up your aunt, and your life, for post 18)

  I think in FL, you can't move out without your parents consent until 18.

  Your father could be removed as elder if you tell.

  Post 18 fade excuses get easier ie working, busy, depressed, sick, confused......whatever.

  Tough it out now, and do everything you can to pre-fade, get out of the house, try to meet others outside the BORG, and set up your life, and I think that would do the least damage.

  so last thursday was meeting day.

  my wife knows my thoughts on this religion and respects my fade and is completely ok with it (which surprised me, and also made me love her even more).

  i think she must know it's all crack-pot stuff but seeing as her whole family are all in and about 98% of them cant even explain their beleifs without a watchtower on hand i think she's just going along for the friends/family/social side of it.

  Oh well. I'd rather have just one "worldly" friend that likes me for who i am than 8 million "brothers" that really only speak to me when they need to.

  I actually get what the op is saying, but it's not being articulated in a cohesive way. (no offense) Social criticism usually only reaches a small audience. Read the work of Morris Berman for example. I think this clip from a System of a Down vid from about 20 years ago sums up what is trying to be put across.

  bringing together all of the stories they told thus far and placing them int he "new world" complete with the little boy who was killed in a car accident coming back from the dead.. i have a good friend who is stuck in with family and plays the role.

  he said everyone was crying, and the people next to him rated the videos by how many tissues they needed to dry their eyes.

  i know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.

  my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.

  i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.

  Black Wolf, your doing great, we’re here for you. You can be confused about doctrine till the cows come home, but remember the crux of the matter to always put out there, no matter how much pressure is put on you.
  
  This is about baptism question #2 and your 100% belief and dedication to the “spirit directed” org.
  
  “This is the biggest decision of my life, so I need to be absolutely sure (about the org), because I can’t change my mind later.”
  
  They can throw at you circular logic, tell you your life is in danger etc, but I think you can always play that card, and be “confused” till your 18, and get on with your life.

  Bravo! I'm relieved. My advice would be to keep things simple, have a couple of questions written down.

  All the rational thinking in the world won't stop a kid from running away (or worse, checking out) if they feel there is no way out. 1 in 5 teens run away. That's why I think she should have some sort of counselor/helper in person, or at least a helpline. Maybe it's just me, but I sense desperation.

  Black Wolf, if you want out, there has to be a way. I've seen folks ban together here to help people.

  I'm no expert, but even if social services are inadequate, there has to be someone here that can help with a go fund me page or something, maybe get a lawyer or whatever to get you out. You'll have to step up and want it though, and deal with all the pain now instead of later if you get baptized.

  You say if you drop "the bomb" they will treat you as evil. If they do, that could be considered child abuse and a way out too.
  

  I agree, fail the questions to buy you time......misunderstand the faithful slave issue.

  BW, you are very intelligent and thankfully awake to TTATT. Sadly, you are in a no win situation. This is how the Borg destroys families. But the lesser of two evils is not getting baptized. Try to fade until your 18 then leave home, in the meantime do all the preparation you can for that. You will unlikely have any parental/family support when you leave.They will be heartbroken, but at least they won't have to shun you the rest of their lives.

  I see you reaching out for support here, but your going to have to do a lot more. Explain your situation to those that can help. Go to social services, dial 211 (united way) meetup groups, even churches, schools, non cult relatives, whatever you have to, to get your ducks in a row for leaving home. There's good help out there, just don't blow it by running away and/or getting hooked on drugs.

  Ok, lecture over, I don't post much, but my heart goes out to you, even though I'm not in a position to help.
