CDC: 36,000 people in US will die from killer virus before next summer!!!
by Elsewhere inif you thought the terrorist act on sept 11, 2001 that killed 3000 people was bad... just wait until this killer virus is released onto the population... and the cdc says that it will happen and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it!.
that's right... every year 20,000 to 36,000 people die from the flu.
if terrorists were to kill as many people with a virus the world would be outraged... markets would crash... and countries would go to war.

Hey, if we all stopped dying, then the world will be overpopulated. That will cause global food shortages on an even larger scale. OK, joking aside.
The general population feels more at risk of terrorism than of disease, so thats what the govt will spend its money on instead of finding a cure for the real problems. They feel helpless against a disease, but once they put a target on 'the bad guy' and pull the trigger, they get a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

IF Corvin said she was stupid because she was very hispanic, then that would be considered racist. If he said she was hispanic and did something stupid, then he is pointing out that she was a stupid person who just happend to be hispanic. He was using adjectives to visually describe a person he had an interaction with. Should we criticize him for giving us a clearer picture of what happend? NO.
Had he said "a person came up to me and asked me what i was selling", we would have been left with all sorts of questions. Like why did this person not understand what I was doing? Because Corvin added some ethnic description, doesn't mean he is racist.
If I was to say I my boss is Asian, does that make me racist? Nope, it means I have a boss who is Asian.
If I was to say I know an asian person who is dumb, does that make me racist? Nope, it just makes me know a guy who is dumb and who happens to be asian.
Adding the very descriptor also doesn't make it racist. My mom acts more Norweigan than I do, so I would consider her very norweigan, and myself just plain old norweigan.

crucifixation or upright stake

Lawnmowers... what is your oppinion???
by Elsewhere init is getting close to time for me to buy a lawnmower.
when i was growing up and cutting my dad's lawn he always had a self-propelled lawnmower.
i was very lucky in that i never had to use a push-mower.

Do they sell flymos in the states? I remember having one in belgium. The thing that sucked is the grass needed to be raked up. But it was a cool novelty.
If its a tiny lawn, why not get one of those push blade mowers? zero pollution, zero cords
