It never ceases to amaze me that your personal friends have NO clue what it is like to have been one. I was speaking with a friend the other day about having been a JW. She said, Oh I have a dear friend of 30 years who is one and she is so nice! Ya, they joke about witnesses at their door, etc, etc. However, they have NO CLUE what it's all about! The deceit, the convoluted change of Policies and beliefs. The Money aspect, the grief of being disowned. Just try sending a FB friend request to some one who WAS an old JW friend and see what you get. BLOCKED! And I'm not even DF'D! There was most probably an announcement made somewhere and POOF! These so called friends are GONE! Try explaining all of this plus so much more to a friend today . Just saying.................

Disfellowshipping Sounds Wonderful to Me Now

of course now the announcement is read "so and so is no longer one of jehovahs witnesses".
they read that statement twice, once for each of the names.

All of the above statements are true reflections of the Mindset from all angles to one's being DF'd. My most troubling part was still having Family, sons, in. I was a new grand father and my son lived down the street from me, 6 houses. he came down one day with my grandson, 6 months old, and in the course of the short discussion we had, he made the statement," There has to be punishment". Broke my heart and pissed me off at the same time. He ran home after my response..........This was 12 years ago. I was since re-instated and after a couple of years our relationship became very good. Of course, this was after I was able to have a rational conversation with him about his mother, my then Ex, and her Imperfections..................I have since drifted far away and moved far away from any of the jw's who knew me. I have a great relationship with both of my sons. One in, one out. Haven't been to meetings in 12 years and I live a WONDERFUL LIFE!

Leah Remini - Scientology
by tresdecu inlast night on 20/20, they did an interview with leah remini (american actress know for king of queens tv show) she was raised in scientology since the age of 8, and recently left rather publicly.
she re-enforced what we all know, that they are bat shit crazy (like any cult) but also talked about how hard is it to leave something that's been a part of you for so long.. so many interesting parallels to our world (former world) of jw'dumb.
it's a great ep to watch with someone you are trying to awaken.

I made it it a point to watch this along with my non-jw bride. She exclaimed that it sounded oh so familiar. Gave me such an uneasy feeling about it all. I watched it for a half an hour and I swear it almost gave me flashbacks!

Thanks for the welcome back folks! As time goes on I will have many more questions on what's developed with these people. I have a son who is still in and I don't discuss this with him. I know that he is only there for the appearances as he is married into a very large jw family. Keeps the peace between us. If anyone happens to speak with Flipper have him get in touch with me. I see the messenger app here, and he can give me his number as I have lost it with the theft of my last phone. We used to have some very long conversations, great guy! -

I asked them about the current stand on Blood and why so many people had to die from years of abstaining. Their answer? Go to the WTS Web site. So, I pressed them about what they new about the past policy......Go to the Web site. ????? I don't believe that they can give their own personal witness on matters anymore, ia this true and a common practice? Oh, it's good to be back. I was formerly known as nomoreguilt. Also, is Flipper still around?

Hey! I've been trying to Befriend active JW's on FB and guess what? No Takers! So far 2 have blocked me, 2 deleted request. I'm not even DF'd but I think by now, 12 years after attending anything that they got the drift. Maybe my Ex told them about me or ,maybe they just got the private word not to talk to me? As I said, I have no clue what their policies are anymore but, my older active son talks to me ll the time and tells me who has passed away. Oh, I am 65. I used to use the name " nomoreguilt" for those who may remember me. If Mr Flipper is still around have him message me. Thank you, good to see you all again. -

What are your reasons for posting here?
by sonnyboy ini'm curious as to what drives some people to post at certain boards.. for me, i first came here over a year ago thinking this was a pro-jw site, ready to jump on the dubs.

little did i know.... i posted here exclusively for a while, but then found that the repetitive topics became tedious.

I truly appreciated terry's comments and perspective. And I agree with him. One of the most outstanding common bonds that we have is the we Think Outside of the BOX! While we were JW's, we were inside of a BOX, and all that we were able to see was what was INSIDE of that BOX! Now that we are no longer a part of it, we can see INSIDE of it and are no longer Myopic. Life is easier to deal with, yet, our past hinders us mentally until we can overcome what we missed while inside of that BOX! It's a long road for many of us, yet, we our all opptimistic bout our futures. We have so much to enjoy now, while for sme of us with family still in, it will be more difficult, until the time that we can approach those members to have them come to the same appreciation about the Truth that we have.

Pams Girl..............Good One! One morning I did the same thing with a laugh, only I had moments earlier realized that it was time for my morning constitution, OOOOPS!!!Coughed and Uh-Oh!?? At 63, oh my! What awaits me in the years to come.
Now, about forgetting why you went into the kitchen or some other room. Do this. When you have this happen, simply sit down and it will come back to you right then. Why you ask? It's because your brains have settled in your ass and by setting onit, yup, stimluated it and your thoughts come right back to you.
