if they were able to win on this ground, they could get out completely (although it could still be appealed to the ca supreme court).

Thank you for that, Chaserious. It was very clear and concise - I understood it, which isn't usually the case when it comes to anything to do with law/legal issues!

As I was reading the first section about Duty, the irony hit me. The WT are saying that they have no legal liability for warning someone that there is a danger or risk to them, and therefore they shouldn't be blamed for not warning Candace or her parents and others. BUT, JW's are told regularly that if they don't go out and warn others about Armageddon and the danger Satan and this world poses to them, they are bloodguilty!

So, apparently, it's fine to not let people know that their lives might be ruined forever and their child's innocence might be ripped from them, but it's imperative that people are told that living their lives as they wish could in the future prevent them from living forever.......

Aargh!!

I have been told that because I am dating a non-JW and not attending meetings, I will not be allowed to find out the 'truth' from personal bible study. I've also been told if I'm not serving God then I'm serving Satan. And that my child will suffer because I'm not living as a JW. And that Satan has made me leave Jehovah.

Of course, they couldn't explain exactly how Satan has managed to do that, seeing as he's not allowed to actually touch us or talk to us or get inside our heads or read our minds or even enter our homes without being 'invited'.

It's all crap.

Question For Elders - Am I being Paranoid?

i gave the talk last week on the meaning of the memorial emblems in the 'b' school.

(included subtle 'seeds' as well) i was puzzled to see a member of the service committee come in as part of the spectator group, because he never leaves his family to come into the 'b' school.

(i was wondering if i'd been deliberately assigned the material, to test me).

I agree with NeonMadman - the school overseer and assistant overseer are 'monitored' and given feedback if deemed necessary. It probably has nothing to do with you personally, so please don't fret x

here is what got my spidey senses tingling: paragraph 16, reference to daniel p mannix book, was wondering if his statement was mis-quoted so i did my research.......but was even more shocked when i saw this: .

from amazon dot com reviews................ probably the most provocative work of historical fiction published this century,"those who are about to die" is pure mannix at his best.

a uncensured exploration of what likely took place in the circuses of ancient rome.

I'm still shocked that anyone at the WBTS thought it was ok to read, seeing how gory and violent it is reported to be.

My Bible Highlights Comment last night

last night i gave a comment at the bible highlights, i never comment anymore unless i can say something that might plant a small seed in someones mind.. anyways the bible reading was mark 5-8. my comment was, "i appreciated mark 7:6-8 where it reads he said to them: isiah aptly prophesied about you hypocrites for it is written, this people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far removed from me.

it is in vain they keep worshiping me, because they teach as doctrines, commands of men.

letting go the command of god, you hold fast the traditions of men.

Great comment, well done! I'd never have the guts to do something like that.

I think anyone who is already mentally looking for an exit would pick up on the subtext of your comment.

Unfortunately, the majority of JWs truly believe that they DO stick to what is written in the scriptures, they honestly can't see that anything they're taught might be 'beyond the things written'. It's a sad state of affairs.

Keep up the good work, brave one :-)
