well i went to a "special meeting" in the armadillo today where a 2 & 1/2 hour programme was relayed from london at 1pm.
apparently the letters of invitation only went out a month or so ago and not all congregations were invited.
there were 2,900 of us from around scotland.
My sister in Northwest US just received a special invitation delivered to her personally, must be such a meeting coming to her area. She is acting so secretive it making some members of the family nervous wondering why the secretsy.
We wonder because she has now started shunning members of the family that lives in the same home and encouraging mom to do the same.
my van broke down before christmas.
i could not even afford to have it "looked at", let alone repaired.
so, i have been praying that god would somehow work this whole situation out.. .
Happy your brother helped you find a van. it was your brother to be thanked. we were taught to pray for things that were gods will, spiritual things. unless the van is to be used for service and meetings, I dont believe Jesus, or God answered your prayer.
we all know how the wt likes to go on about how the church would prevent the common person from reading the bible, wanting to keep everyone in the dark, well, they seem to have conveniently missed out a good part of history in the process.. .
notice how what this book on the history of literacy campaigns says on church involvement in encouraging people to read the bible seems to have been completely overlooked in wt publications:.
in the case of sweden, a church law of 1686 required children, farm hands, and maid servants to learn to read and see with their own eyes what god bids and commands in his word.
the biggest shock to me when I started working was how many "worldly" ladies attended at least one night of bible study every week. I grew up thinking only JWs had bible studies.
page 8 of the latest wt (insider version) has a whole page dedicated to the question whether it is appropriate to sit next to a disfellowshipped child at meetings.. not sure how to paste this in, but check jw.org.
perhaps someone can do this for me.. horrible, no words really on how pharisee like their cult grip and control has become!.
first of all, without any shame they are talking about disfellowshipped minors.
Jehovah has made me SAD!! IF his followers are so easily stumbled by worrying who sits by who, who eats by who, who speaks to who, God has failed in his creations. I as a parent of children in their 40s would be so disappointed if my two grownup children had to ask me to make every decision for them I woukd know I had failed as a parent.

in a couple of hours i'm going to the doctor - an intervention.
i don't want to be a burdon to my mother, she has her own life to lead with her own responsibilities.
i've always been able to take care of everything for myself.

My grandfather died in 1947 thinking the end was near, Grandma died in 1964 thinking we are in the last days, Mom died in 2006 thinking the end was near. My grandparents died in their70s and mom was 89. At 65 years of age I no longer believe.

i believe she needs some encouragement and well wishes.. mouthy, you don't need to respond to this thread if you don't feel up to it.

sorry if this has been mentioned before... i haven't visited this forum in a while.. i've noticed that crisis of conscience is no longer ridiculously expensive on amazon.co.uk (now 9.38), and they have a kindle version which is even cheaper (6.84 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/b00bqou5rc).
unfortunately the publisher did an absolutely useless job of formatting the kindle version.
gone for good you can download an app for Kindle on computers. Its not hard I know because I can do it.
i recently had a very long conversation with my mother, about what jehovah's witnesses teach and believe now.
while i could gleam ideas and thoughts, that kind of worked with the religion i once called home.
more often then not, i had to come to a extreme conclusion.
That is what I was thinking I saw more love and kindness in the religion before 1980's. Not as restictive as it has become now. I was just mentioning to my husband a talk or WT study in the 80's about the diferrence of' laws, rules, regulations and suggestions. It ended by saying we had to follow even suggestions because they were for our own good and plus we were responsible for hurting others around us consciences. I decided then if I had to be responsible for my brothers and sisters consciiences I was done with this nonsence.
