Sorry for your loss. Many families show their greed during a death it doesn't really make a difference if they are JW or not. The one thing JWs often do as they don't feel the need to share the news of a death with non JW family members.

Hortenzie Thank You for your post. I appreciate hearing of your friend apoligizing to her children. I also tried apologizing to my children for raising them JWs a few months ago.
Both of my children said I didn't need to apologize as I raised them the only way I knew as I was a born in and now we are all out and living as normal of a life as we are able as westill try to keep some contact with a few still JW family.

The effects of shunning on The View
by Rebecca 619 insheri sheppard spoke about this as a ex jw how it affects a person to be dfd,you feel like you loose your identity, its very difficult, i see my son struggling, i wish this practice can be done away with,so hurtful for everyone..

Rebecca, I've had you and your son on my mind. My son and your son should never been df'd and shunned for something they were born with. They have so much they could contribute to the congregations. My other thought are they afraid gay young men will convert the members of the congregation to all being gay. It would never happen.

Thank you your first story backs up rumours I've heard for the past 50 years. Many of my older sisters friends would go to Bethel in New York and I overheard the talk. It was one of the first things I googled last year when I started searching. I googled ex-bethelites I started reading story after story. It is time for the truth comes out.

Were you a meeter and greeter or a background observer?
by likeabird ini've noticed how on newbie threads everyone jumps in to say hello, even other newbies.. it got me wondering.. when you were in, were you the type to greet all the newcomers and visiting bros and siss, or would you stay in the background and wait a few meetings to manage to go over to say hello?.
i'm not particularly anti-social, but as a foreigner, meeting new people meant they felt they had the right to interrogate me on my life story in the first five minutes of the acquaintance just because they could see i wasn't one of them.
being assigned to preach with a newcomer was torturous and i would shut my eyes waiting for the interrogation to start.. so anyway, that's what made me fall into the latter group.

I was an observer even with those who I knew throughout my childhood.

FYI I am a 65 year old born-in and yes 1975 as the end was being pushed. Fred Franz the president of WTBTS was behind this. Many JWs quit their jobs, sold homes and ruined their lives as well as their childrens.

Cowboy boots were looked down on in Southern California but we lived in central California. The LA brothers just coudn't understand brothers wearing cowboy boots. My husband was a beach kid who ended up living in a redneck area. Thats how he eneded up wearing cowboy boots
