  Does Anyone Remember the "Around The World Assemblies"?

  so, being that it is 2013, i recall that it was 50 years ago, that the "around the world assemblies" were held.

  for those of us who lived in southern california, the first week of september was when we had the assembly, and it was held at the rose bowl in pasadena.

  yep, the rose bowl, with no seats, per se, but just those hard benches as seats.

  Lois this was the first convention I got the first glimpse of my future husband he was 18 and I was 15. Didn't meet officiacially for another 2 years. I remember a certain episode he described to me and remember I also saw it. Were we meant to be together??

  I spent all 8 days there. Long 8 days very hot, and one day of heavy rain. I was 15 and I don't remember any of the talks. By the way it was the only 8 day assembly I ever attended plus I missed the whole first week of school.

  ...drink a lot?

  gosh i love wine.

  i like a good bottle of wine each night, and i have a high tolerance to alcohol, though i never drank much (except for a couple of times with the vodka, but i don't keep that stuff in the house anymore, way too dangerous) as a jw because getting slightly happy is a 'sin'.

  about me, i am being raised in a jw family.

  all of my family expect for one aunt, who had left but not disfellowedshiped thankly, are in jw.

  my father is an elder and so is my grandfather.

  Welcome I am the mother of a gay ex JW. The brothers never realize the damage they do with their loose talk.. Go on with your life and accept your sexuality. DO NOT marry as will be suggested it doesn't help you or anyone. Best wishes Andysmiles. My son pioneered up to the day he confessed to being gay and was df'd. He says coming out was the best thing he did for himself.

  I have been asked to submit work for next year's open studio exhibit

  my husband showed some of my work to artists exhibiting in this years open studio event and i have been asked to submit work for next year.

  as soon as the children go back to school i will be busy with the isograph pens.

  as a witness i gave up my art studies and my dream of fine art because it was not appropriate for a witness.

  how many of us have had to deal with a version of that retort?!

  it's hurtful and i suspect - for some - that's partly because of the nagging feeling that our families may have a point.. but do they?.

  i was 15 when i got baptised, is it reasonable that as the 50 year old man i'll be on my next birthday i continue to be held to a decision i made as a schoolboy?.

  Splash I was baptised 51 years ago and very few things taught are the same. I have been told you have to be at every meeting to understand all the new lights. As my family member was saying this I think she had doubts as she expressed this thought aloud.

  Gossip make it known in the congregation they don't want to tarnish Jehovah's name but be prepared for the elders to come after you but you need to shout it wide and far to protect other young ones.
