I'm in North County...I can also do a Saturday or Sunday. My husband works every weekend so I pretty much have that open as well. It looks like there are quite a few of us around here. Maybe we can do something the end of October or first part of November. I'm open to suggestions.

Shunning mom is floored by UN scandal..first she's heard of it.
by restrangled indue to my husbands interactions with my mom with questions about the history of the wbts, i received a phone call from her.
(keep in mind she is 72 years a witness).
i brought up the un thing and she said, thats from apostates.

Your mom may never leave due to her age and the fact that all of her lifelong friends are at the KH. But, she may decide to quit playing by all of their rules and stop shunning you. It may cause her to open her eyes and see that they can't dictate whom she can associate with. I feel that a good majority of witnesses are only in it for social reasons. That's pretty much why I stayed in for so long.

Sandy, I just finished reading, "Left to Tell" by Immaculee Ilibagiza. She survived the Rwandan holocaust. I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone. I've never read a book that moved me as much.

If a Witness speaks about your exit to you, does this happen to you too?
by free2beme ini have been out of the religion a long time and do not make public the fact that i was one, to the general people in my life.
mainly as, it is not something i feel is necessary to understand me and i also do not like the odd conversations that seem to come from it.
the other day, a person from work, whom i did not know was a witness.

"I always like to ask them back, "Are you asking those of me to learn, to condemn me or because you hope I found an answer to those questions that makes more sense then the one you hold too?"" I love that response...hope I can remember it if the need ever occurs. I almost came clean last weekend when 2 JW's came to my door. I chickened out, told them that I attended a different congregation. They encouraged me to check theirs out since it was in the territory. After they left I could have kicked myself for not telling them that we are no longer JW's but I have a son that still attends meetings and didn't want to make trouble for him.

Just wanted to post this "reminder" for newer jws
by A Paduan in*** awake!
if you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things.
because all the evidence in fulfillment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years.

This is so sad. I remember tons of people growing up that put off having children because they wanted to wait until after the big A. They are well past the child bearing years and are probably all alone with no one to care for them, rotting away in some nursing home. It's criminal what the Society has done. If I sound pissed, I am. Thank God that I exercised freedom of though growing up and didn't buy into the BS any more than I did.

But what if they're right............still the Truth?
by ScoobySnax inthis will probably apply to few here, but to me it'll always be that way.
it's the what if syndrome maybe, but it's always there.
i still think that as a core belief system the jw's have it right, even if their delivery isn't always right.

Scooby-I felt exactly like you for the longest time. Then I sat down and read the entire christian greek scriptures with an open mind as if I had never read the bible before. Then my boss had me read the "Left Behind" series and it gave a different interpretation of scriptures. But what finally helped me was a series of tapes I listened to by Dr. Wayne Dyer and now I am finally free. I realize that had I been born in another part of the world, I would have grown up believing that Buddha or Muhammed was the almighty god and that worshipping them was the only way to go.
I also have to add that after reading Ray Franz' books, I realized that Russell, Rutherford, Knorr and Franz were just men trying to interpret the bible like everyone else. Maybe some things they got right, but they got too much of it wrong. The bible warns us about following after men...that's all they are.
