I have a niece who HATES the witnesses to this day because she was shunned by most of her witness family on her mom's side. Her mom & dad were both raised witnesses, they divorced, her dad stayed in and her mom left for good. Her dad remarried a witness and they had kids. The kids friends were not allowed to bring their half-sister over because she was "worldly" and it has made her very bitter. Fortunately my side of the family never treated her differently but we did make her feel like an outcast at times (unintentionally) until she set me straight. I really felt bad for even making her feel even slightly different.

Anyone Shunned Even Though Not Baptized?
by Country Girl ini've found that even though i was raised a jw, but never baptized, i'm pretty much still shunned.

Thanks, Nelly. I used to be in the same congregation as the Uptons but had forgotten about their case against the society. I had always wondered what the outcome was.

Welcome Letsgetout...your parents sound like they are really nice and that you have always had a good relationship with them. My guess is that they will be disappointed (not in you but the situation) and will no doubt try to talk you into breaking up with this person but I would suggest that you be honest and not try to hide it. From a parents standpoint, I would rather my children hurt me with the truth than with a lie, however, I don't wear blinders anymore so my children have the freedom to live their own lives.

I used to order from them along time ago. It's a little expensive but the convenience is nice. We really liked the mint chocolate chip cone things with a clump of chocolate at the bottom of the cone. Yummy! They will come by every 2 weeks once they come the first time. I used to really like it when they came by and I didn't have anything in the house for dinner that night, saved me a trip to the store.
