Maybe something was mentioned in his final talk-the public talk is from an outline so not much room to deviate but the final talk (if they still do that) is usually created by the CO to touch on congregational issues.

it really helped me and i highly recommend it for any x-jw or human being, period.
i am curious what others thought of this from the x-jw perspective..

I read "The Four Agreements" a long time ago and loved it. It's a little different but when you get to the end of each chapter it makes a lot of sense. I also have "The Mastery of Love" which is really good too.

Watching "The Shunning"
by TweetieBird inwatching a movie on the hallmark channel called "the shunning" about an amish girl shunned by her family and community.
so sad that any religion would subject anyone to that.
so wrong!.

How many received the memorial invitation?
by IMHO inhow well is this territory being covered?.
how many on here (active jws excluded) received an invitation?.

They worked my neighborhood today and last Saturday-saw them as I was leaving for work both times. Apparently they must have tried to contact people face to face last weekend to personally deliver the invite, one was in my door when I got home from work today.

Alert: Witch hunt begins Watchtower 15 july 2011
by Gorbatchov inreading the posts about the 2011-7-15 watchtower about mentally retarded apostates i foresee the following scenario:.
1. congregational elders trying to get grip on non regular publishers and inactive witnesses.. 2. the good ones read in the watchtower that apostates are to find in the local congregation.
3. inactives like me (i hate this name, but i use their language), and liberal witness like me, will be hunted, .

For the "true believers" it will serve further proof of how deep in the end we are.

It really pisses me off that they make it sound like all who leave do so in order to lead a sinful lifestyle. Another point, it's not like the young man had a choice growing up, kids are pretty much forced to get baptized at a young age and then disfellowshipped when they go through puberty. So much pressure is put on parents if their children are not baptized by a certain age.

How do i tell them im no longer interested in being a JW?
by TimothyT inhi everyone.. iv been a jw for 3 years and iv been attending meetings since i was young!
im now 23. i have recently accepted that im gay and id now like to leave the organisation.. im trying to do things bit by bit, and i wanted to ask you all for some advice and ideas.. personaly, at the moment, id rather just phase myself out than hand in a letter of dissasociation - although i likely will arrive at that point within the next 6 months or so.. i have been quite well known in my congregation as a serious, kind and spiritual young man, and at the moment, im attending less and less meetings and not going out on the ministry as much.. i keep getting constant calls from elders asking about me and wondering where i am.
i understand their concern but its a little annoying, and unlike the majority of you here, i just couldnt tell them to get lost or to leave me alone as its just not who i am.

Hang in there TimothyT - at least you found this place, which is a godsend when you are struggling. We (husband and I) did the fade for years and that was very difficult. Now the family all know that we don't go to meetings anymore (it took us moving to do the fade successfully for a while). They will still talk to us but the relationship is definitely changed. That's okay tho, we had to be true to ourselves and have developed friends outside of the organization. We love our family but have NOTHING in common with them anymore so being around them is not pleasant anyway.

Has anyone read The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown?
by ranmac inthis is the only one of his books ive read.
it was kind of drawn out but still entertaining, especially if you're interested in freemasonry and the usual fodder associated with it.
the descriptions of the rituals, monuments and symbols associated with washington and its political/religious origins is quite intriguing.

I read it a while back...I also remember thinking that I really need to make a trip to DC and see all of the buildings.
Even tho all of his books are fiction (based on facts) reading The DaVinci Code was eye opening to me and made me think about the Bible in a whole new light.

The UN bashing decreased once the WTS became an NGO. I thought they would have gone back to bashing them again when they disassociated themselves from it, but don't know since I don't read any of their literature anymore. I would guess that if they don't talk about the UN it's because they don't want people digging into their own past association with them.
