Thanks Blondie for the links, definitely will help.
We have always provided live music and the residents have come to expect it. I will be getting a petty cash check in the next few days so I will go to the Dollar Store and pick up some decorations, paper goods, etc. We already have tons of trays from past events.
We had the same budget for a pool party over the summer and managed to pull it off, think I am going to have to get the creative juices flowing. I will probably end up making most of the food myself so I will have to pick stuff that can be made ahead of time.

10,000 year old spear point found in FL - man is only 6,000 years old?
by Comatose inhttp://www.cnn.com/2013/11/16/us/florida-spring-artifacts/index.html?hpt=hp_c2.
as evidence piles up, will we reach a tipping point where people begin accepting the age of humans existence?.
he described as "phenomenal" the preservation of the finds, whose location as many as 5 feet deep in oxygen-free sediment had protected them from decay.. they include a suwannee projectile point -- a spear point -- whose estimated age of 10,000 years puts it "right at the cusp of the end of the ice age," arbuthnot said.

WOW-crazy day at work. Congrats to me???
by TweetieBird insharing my wild day at work today because it is 1am and i can't sleep.. i am an assistant manager at an apartment community.
the manager has been a complete nightmare (bipolar and incompetent) so the last 10 months have been challenging to say the least.
got to work this morning and our regional was already there which was a little strange but half expected due to something that happened last week.

Life is good. The mood in the office is great and residents are elated that she is gone. One came in yesterday upset about something and I told her that manager was no longer with us. She said, "good, did she get fired? if not, she should've been". All we are allowed to say is that she is pursuing a different opportunity (unemployment). She said it was a good thing, that she was totally incompetent and never followed through on anything.
I did not realize how much stress I was under until it was gone. I have slept awesome the past two nights and I don't dread going to work anymore. In fact, I am going in today (my day off) just to organize things. I pulled out invoices from several months ago out of a file last night. I have no idea if they ever got paid.
And I hired a new leasing agent yesterday that already has experience and looks like she will be a great fit to our team.
I'm a happy girl right now.

The party is from 6 to 9pm. Forgot to mention that we always provide beer and wine as well, but I was thinking this year coming up with a christmas punch, one with alcohol and one without. If anyone has a good recipe, please let me know. The total budget is $600 but the musician I hired is $200.
I definitely want to go simple. Last year we had a cocktail party with hors d'oeuvres. This is my first year as manager and christmas parties are definitely not my thing.
I love the idea of finger foods and veggie trays. I do have a Sam's Club membership so I'm sure I will be getting all the food from there. I can get decorations from the Dollar Store and I love the idea of the tree clippings, LisaRose. I did the meatball thing for my son's graduation party and it was a big hit, will probably do that again.
Great idea, Mum, about the money for charity. We always support Toys for Tots and our residents never disappoint. We will be doing it again this year. We also always donate unopened food to a local food bank.
Thanks for all of the suggestions.

Rascal Flatts-"I'm Moving On"
This came out when my husband and I were fading and the words resonated so perfectly with what we were feeling at the time, plus it's a beautiful song.

Mouthy, please don't go. You bring a lot to this forum. If people don't like what you post, they don't have to read it. Don't punish the majority over the disgruntled few.

Have you ever had a hallucination? What was it like?
by Nathan Natas ini have almost never had a visual hallucination and i was wondering what they're like.
how "real" do they seem?
is there any kind of a hint you get that tells you they are not real?

I was slipped something at a party once when I was a teenager (maybe LSD) and for years after I would have hallucinations when I slept. I would open my eyes from a deep sleep and see huge spiders on the wall, or think someone was in the room. One time I saw blood dripping down a painting. Freaked me out. Haven't had one in a long time.
