I work for someone that has a business in their home. Today, I woke up not feeling well so I decided to call in sick. About 9:30 I made my call to my employer and it took her a while to answer. When she finally did answer I asked her if she was on the other line. She started laughing hysterically and said, "No, I was at the door with Jehovah's Witnesses." I told her she didn't need to thank me for saving her.

Now back to bed I go.

Mispronunciations at the meetings

moxy raised a point in the "exaggeration" thread that aggravated me at the meetings.

mispronunciations.

moxy mentioned the word 'hyperbole' as frequently being mispronounced.. another one that bugged me was 'epitome'.

We had one elder that always said, or-gig-ni-zation instead of organization.

Almost everyone in one congregation that I went to called it the Mosiac (mo-zee-ac) Law instead of Mosaic Law. Cracked me up!

The only 2 commandments (laws) that Jesus specifically mentioned were:

1) Love your Heavenly Father with all your heart, soul, strength and mind
2) Love your neighbor as yourself

which is summed up, as mentioned earlier, into the law of LOVE.

YMCA=apostasy?

references have been made recently about joining the ymca is considered apostasty by the wts.

what action could be taken against someone (inactive jw that occasionally goes to meetings, they still give me a km each month even tho i haven't been in service for a couple of years and i do not attend the thursday nite meeting) like me?

the reason i am asking is because we joined the ymca a few months ago and have a draft taken out of our bank account for the membership dues.

I really wish they would approach me about it so that I could ask them if they plan on disfellowshipping the GB for aligning themselves with the UN, no matter what their reason for doing so.

I seriously doubt if I will be turned into the elders. In my area, usually a silent marking goes on, you know, word of mouth type stuff. I will be shunned without officially being announced. That already happened to us when we started missing the majority of meetings.

I know of a brother who threatened a lawsuit if they disfellowshipped him, so it's just been passed along from one to another in the different congregations that "he is apostate but they can't announce it because he threatened to sue the society."

Three women are about to be executed for crimes. One's a brunette, one's a redhead, and one's a blonde.

Two guards brings the brunette forward, and the executioner asks if she has any last requests. She says no, and the executioner shouts, "Ready . . . Aim . . ."

Suddenly the brunette yells, "earthquake!!" Everyone is startled and looks around. She manages to escape.

The angry guards then bring the redhead forward, and the executioner asks if she has any last requests. She says no, and the executioner shouts, "Ready . . . Aim . . ."

The redhead then screams, "tornado!!" Yet again, everyone is startled and looks around. She too escapes execution.

By this point, the blonde had figured out what the others did. The guards bring her forward, and the executioner asks if she has any last requests. She also says no, and the executioner shouts, Ready . . . Aim . . ."

The blonde shouts, "fire!!"

I can truthfully tell you that I have a much more intimate, deeper relationship with my Creator now than I ever did before. I do all things now out of love for Him than because an organization is telling me to do something or not do something.

Read your bible, and I mean REALLY read it, with no pre-conceived ideas about what the scriptures are saying. You will be amazed at what you can learn.
