Roger Insellman, Barry Sobieski, Wade Payne These guys still COs?
by Seeker4 inroger insellman, barry sobieski and wade payne were three of the poorest cos i can remember in the decades i was a jw.
sobieski was a bully, using his authority to intimidate as much as possible.
insellman was just not personable, and was such a company man is so many ways.

Too Dang HOT!!
by caligirl ini just stepped out into my back yard and thought i was going to melt.
i was going to fill up the inflatable pool for my son, but by the time it gets filled up, the water will be about 90 and not worth the bother.
i'm sure that other california people can relate to this.

I'm with you Caligirl. I live in San Diego area and do not have air conditioning. Never needed it before. I was ready to go to Fry's and buy a portable air conditioning unit.

After 4 years, an introduction (hope it works this time!)
by gwyneth inive been a member of this board for just over four years, and i have never posted an introduction.
i mostly stick to the "fluff" threads, because they are safe.
i wont be attacked for an unpopular point of view, or hurt anyone elses feelings.

Welcome Gwyneth, thanks for sharing your story. I grew up in Daytona Beach and was very intriqued about the brother you married. Was he from Daytona? It's a small place. I still have lots of JW family there but thankfully I got out.

Not only do you have to bring your own food, they don't want you to leave during the lunch break and head to McDonalds. We went to the DC last year and one of the sisters let me know that we were being disloyal by going out to lunch. It bothered her so much that on Sunday she brought enough food for my family so that we would be forced to stay.
We didn't go this year. -

The End is coming Pretty Soon, Folks
by Flowerpetal ini have been inactive from jws since 2003. i don't post here very much -- do more reading than posting.
but i just had to tell y'all that i got a one-page tract this evening which is an invitation to attend the deliverance at hand convention.. yes...the end is coming pretty soon because never before in jw history has an invitation or tract been distributed to a city not designated a convention city.. the end is also coming pretty soon because i was told at the convention there will be a lot of talks about noah and what he faced.. in addition, the end is very near because later on this year there will be several announcements coming from the society.
wow!

What's sad is that the average JW will believe this. Right after they announced that invitations would be extended to people at the door to come to the convention, my mother-in-law was sooooo excited. Now we have real evidence that we are in the time of the end because never in the history of the organization have they ever done this. Jehovah is really speeding things up. I could go on and on but I don't want any of you fine people to lose your lunch.

Interesting info for the newbies and some of us old-timers
by TweetieBird ini ran across this website and here is the link: http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/5min.htm (you'll have to cut and paste as i have a mac and for some reason it won't do it) .
anyway, i thought this was a well written article and helps solidify my belief's of how wrong the wts really is.
for newbies, it's a real roller coaster ride when you first learn the truth about "the truth" so hopefully this will be of help to someone.

Thanks Lady Lee for fixing that. I love my mac but it doesn't always allow me to do the same things that other PC's do.
Anyway, to elaborate on my post above. After I learned the truth about the org I had so many questions. I kept asking myself if I had been duped by Satan (as relatives would call it when others left the truth due to apostacy). For about a year I even went back to meetings and out in service, partially to make family happy and partially to see if I had been duped.
What I learned is that once you take the blinders off, they won't go back on. -

Are "orbs" in photographs spirits?
by LovesDubs inas weird as i may be perceived, i do believe you can catch spirit entities on film.
and the more you believe in them the more you get on your pictures.
they are attracted to frovility, laughing, children, parties, families...and i take pictures at every function i go to and they arent always there.

The quickest, best way to have a Witness open their eyes to being a cult
by free2beme inmy sister was probably one of the most loyal witnesses out there.
all her responses were pulled right from the watchtower thinking, "sorry you feel that way, but i believe jehovah's witnesses are god's people.
" well in time we came to an agreement, "you do not bring up your negative thoughts on the religion, and i will not try to get you to come back to the religion.

We never know what will trigger it for someone. I think for most it's the "do more, do more" mentality that permeates the talks. I use to leave the meetings thinking, why bother, I'm not going to make it anyway. I wasn't a bad person, just felt that I would never measure up.

Nauseating Trip down memory lane.....
by caligirl ini was reading through a journal i kept for my oldest son when he was a baby, and came accross a couple of entries that just make me cringe.
i was writing about my grandparents, the last of which passed away (not witnesses) when he was still less than a year old.
the journal is written like a letter to him for when he is older.

I share your pain...my father da'd himself about 6 years before he died and tried to talk to me. He felt so guilty about getting his family into the cult. I didn't take the blinders off until after he died and had major guilt for a while. One time he made the comment about not even getting a Fathers Day Card, couldn't understand what was so wrong with that. Anyway, one of my siblings (first one out of the cult) told me that dad always felt like I would be the one to come around.
