I have to jump in here as I have several family members who have been disfellowshipped twice, as well as reproved a couple of times and one that will be df'd again in the near future. However, all of them feel that JW's have the truth. They just can't keep it in their pants so they go off and do the naughty for a while until they either get caught or their conscience gets the best of them. Because they are not well liked in the congregation, they tend to get df'd. But they keep going back for more, I guess they like being abused.

Disfellowshipping in America- more commonplace
by dido inwhen i was in the states, texas to be accurate, i attended some congs and got to speak to a few people, and i couldn`t believe how many times individuals were d/f, sometimes 3 or 4 times, and they were also married the same times as well, in the so called `truth`.
i did feel that it made a mockery of the `truth` as in england, most people are only d/f once, very rarily twice or more.
i know america is more advanced in many areas, good things and bad, but i was shocked at the ratio out there.

I used to cringe when I would see really young, i.e. pre-puberty kids get baptized. Some of my own family members got baptized really young due to pressure from their parents. Then puberty kicks in and most of those kids got in trouble. I always caught such grief from all the other dubbers because my kids weren't baptized and I use to tell them that if Jesus (who was perfect) didn't get baptized until he was 30, what makes me think that my kids should. I got some really crazy looks. I followed that up with if baptism is a more important vow than marriage, I would think someone should enter into it with some maturity, when they are old enough to get married, then they can get baptized.

Bad Girl,
Officially, a JW husband and wife are not suppose to engage in anal or oral sex. There was a time when the elders felt it was their responsibility to inquire as to what goes on in the bedroom and if the above mentioned acts were engaged in, you could be df'd. I knew of one woman who got df'd because her non-witness husband insisted on oral sex.
I think now it is up to the married couple to keep it in line with WT standards, the elders are no longer sex police. -

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan called on Tuesday for sensitivity towards religious beliefs and sacred symbols, warning that mistakes, intentional or not, could trigger a global war of religion.
He said international migration, which brought millions of people of different creed and culture to live together, has not united them.
"The misconceptions and stereotypes underlying the id ea of a clash of civilization have come to be more and more widely shared, and insensitivity towards other people's beliefs or sacred symbols - intentional or otherwise - is seized on by those who seems eager to foment a new war of religion, this time on a global scale," Annan said in his address to the UN General Assembly.
Annan said the climate of fear and suspicion is constantly fuelled by violence in the West Asia, carrying a powerful and emotional symbol affecting even those people remote to the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians.
He also said the UN has failed to resolve some of the biggest challenges in the last 10 years: an unjust world economy, world disorder and contempt for human rights and rule of law.
"As a result, we face a world whose divisions threaten the very notion of an international community, upon which this institution stands," he said.
Annan said the address and an annual report he was presenting to the 192-nation assembly would be his last before stepping down on December 31.
The UN failure to resolve world challenges in the last 10 years fell on his watch, Annan said, citing the humanitarian crisis in Sudan's Darfur region and the protracted conflict in the West Asia.
"Yes, I remain convinced that the only answer to this divided world must be a truly United Nations," he said.Annan said his recent visits to several West Asia governments showed that the UN remains the world's only organisation with "legitimacy and reach".This is great news for all dubs! With the special campaign and now this, they will all be convinced that the end is really near, this time!

So sorry restrangled. I was outraged when I heard about the UN scandal, to me it was a BIG deal but my family members that I shared it with pretty much ignored the evidence and still defends the organization to this day. cabasilas is right, leaving the JW's is a process. It took me years to finally see the light after the seed of doubt was planted in me.
