I think the noose just tightened a bit.
by 5go inwe had an interesting local needs.. first it clearly stated if you are not making all the meetings you will not make it in to the new system period no exceptions.
they twisted the story of the red sea to make an example.
saying you can not disobey once, or else you be left stuck in the bottom of the red sea.. from now on the elders will be making shepherding calls on those that are not attending regularly.. also, it was stated that if you know of any not attending regularly.

Glad my publisher record cards are 3,000 miles away from where I live. I forgot to let them know that I moved. Oops!

I know exactly how you feel. I use to pray that I could believe it was the truth again since it's much easier with the blinders on.
I have been successfully fading for the past several years but it required moving from my hometown. My husband had doubts long before I did and when I finally confessed to him that I read Crisis of Conscience and didn't believe it was the truth anymore, he said that he had felt that way for years but was afraid that I would leave him if he wasn't a JW. Fast forward to the present, we have recently been found out by the family that we no longer attend meetings and have thus been shunned by our family. I dreaded it for years but now I feel like a HUGE weight has been lifted off of me. Blood is not thicker than water. But, I can now do what I feel is right. As long as I have my husband and kids (which I do) it doesn't matter if the rest of the family wants to have anything to do with us. They are a messed up bunch anyway.
As a side-note: A really good book that helped me through this is "The Four Agreements" which is how I try to live each day now.

OK! Why is this song associated with Ohio State? I was at Rum Runners the other night and they were playing this for the Ohio fans there. Just curious! Go FSU!

Finally got asked "THE Question"
by TweetieBird ini don't post too often here but have been coming here for a few years now.
i have been successfully fading for the past 10 years (so i thought) but went to visit jw family members last week and the matriarch of the family asked us if we still believed it was jehovah's organization.
after avoiding a direct answer and trying to skirt the issue for a while, finally the hubby said, "no, we don't believe it's jehovah's organization".

Good comeback, watson-wish i would have thought of it at the time but it would have just delayed the inevitable anyway. This is the same woman that when I told her about the UN affiliation, she told me that until Jehovah comes down from heaven in the flesh and tells her that the JW's are not his organization, she will support it to her death. And she will, no matter what, which is fine because it makes her happy and fulfilled. I do love her and for the most part she has been a great MIL, but she is a die-hard witness and always will be.

mentalclearness...you have no idea! They are so indoctrinated that they can't even take a crap without consulting the governing body to see if they are sitting on the toilet the proper way.
satanus...if she could be an elder, she would.

I'm really okay with it, now I won't have to listen to all of her field service experiences, explain why we didn't make it to the district convention, etc. Fortunately, none of my kids embraced "the truth" so I don't have to worry about losing my kids to the cult for which I am truly grateful. Moving away from there was the best thing we ever did. It would be more difficult if we still lived there and had to run into family all of the time. Most of my lifelong JW friends were not really true friends so that's not a loss either.
I learned a long time ago that love from JW's is conditional, as long as you are attending every meeting and going in field service, you are loved. Stop and it's all over.

She said that she would inform the family that we were no longer Jehovah's Witnesses. Fortunately, she had to leave for field service and we left for home. Found out later that she did call everyone in the family and told them about it and that future association with us was over. So I guess we have been disfellowshipped from the family.
I had been trying to avoid that day for so long but there's something freeing about not having to pretend anymore.
Happy New Year!
