I went to Ashland Ave in Chicago from 1980 to 1988...it was replaced with Romeoville, and I remember my first CA in it in Feb 1989.
I also remember Sam Herd was the DO in the early 80s. Remember going to Hawthorne for those?
must have been mid to late 1970s.. it was when they still published the speakers' names on the light-blue circuit assembly programs.. i was a child sitting in the audience at ashland avenue's circuit assembly venue.
i loved that place with it's own basement cafeteria and baptism pool with a big jesus getting baptized mural behind it.. samuel herd was giving the talk.
my child self could only remember my father pointing him out on the program.

if watchtower has no reason to df ones.
they have just become inactive.
do you all think wt will begin a witch hunt (df'ing) for these inactive ones?
I think it would also depend how 'important' you are socially, etc. If you're like me, I have no family or friends in my now 14+ year new home location.
Seeing as I've not gone to a meeting in over a year and a half, no one has bothered with me.
many who have been a jw since the 70- 80s remember the jw dramas coming out yearly.. today they are movies but to the topic.... many of the voice actors are the same.. one however is plain odd.. lets list his roles as i remember:.
the exodus drama: janes.
gideon drama: an anger worshiper of baal.
Or how about this one -- "Heeeyyyyyyy LOT! Where are the men that came into you tonite? Bring them out to us, that we may have INTERCOURSE with them hehehehehehe...."
I believe the Lot drama was around 1988. I remember it at the then District convention. My mom even thought it was weird, and I just kinda laughed.
That dude with that voice was kinda like the "larger-than-life" bad guy...

jehovah’s witnesses double down on scripture used to ignore abuse.
by trey bundy / november 9, 2017. gary breaux, a senior jehovah's witness official, speaks on the religion’s official internet video channel.
Just looking at this guy makes me sick. Yeah, I saw that portion of the wonderful broadcast. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the higher-ups were/are involved in abuse in some form or another.
This guy is a piece of shit! Along with his bosses. Hope they're reading this site too...
please help .
more research for my book .
@snugglebunny
"the psychiatrist might try to convince the patient that the problem was his religion."
Ummmmm...yeah, the doc is probably right about that. They would rather have people in the org that feel like shit instead of helping them get better. Thanks, Jehovah...
our kingdom hall was in a boring town of 30,000 people so to spice things up me and some special pioneers living with us decided to have a fancy dress up party!
what could go wrong?
nice clean fun, and no booze (oh crap!).
Dear Wake Me Up Before You Jo-Ho
If that's really you in the picture, DAMN! Would have loved to been at that party!
.....the truth was not the truth... ?
.
Realizing that the people in this organization don't give a crap about you if you're not connected. So much for a "loving, wonderful organization". That is bull. Also not "the happiest people in the world", either.
Two months after I stopped going to the KH, my depression went a way. Go figure.
what is he like in person?
he seems deranged.
do people get irritated at being spoken to like a 3 year old when they hear him speak?.
I met him in 2005 at a district conv; bumped into him after about an hour after the progam was over. Talked to him for a few minutes; didn't notice anything unusual at that time. He sure has changed.
i get infuriated when i see the god's (guardians of doctrine) sporting pinky rings or rings on there right hands.
like a club association.
when i try and take a look at the ring it resembles a masionic ring.
Doesn't the Society take jewelry for donations?
If so, the GB should be the first to set the fine example & drop their watches & rings in the contribution box!
hundreds baptized at jehovah's witness convention.
at first sight this afican rc looks as though it's acheiving the quantity of baptisms of another era.
348 is a substantilal number and impressive until you see the sunday attendance 28,300. so a baptism rate of 1.2%, in africa.
@Tech49
What's the CO's recommendation for "not letting this happen again"? Threats with firearms to young people to "get baptized or else"? Jeeeeezzzzzz...these guys are really getting desperate!
