The Evolution Of The Watchtower Cult
by pale.emperor insince waking up from the cult i've been curious about where the cult is going and how will it end up?
will it fizzle out or become a little fringe "religion" like plymouth bretheren or the shakers?.
we've already seen the cult evolve from:.

Hmmmm...If I had to venture a guess (based on what happened to the Christian Science movement), I believe the org will eventually contract to about 20% of its current size, and level off there. How long that will take, I have no idea...
They will still have people doing more mindless busy work, but as long as they have some membership, they can claim to be a non-profit religious organization, and if they're smart about their money, won't have to worry about getting tons more from the slashed membership -- just manage their total asset portfolio properly.
Just my theory. I'd be interested in hearing others views on this.

No longer Hidden
by HiddenPimo ini wrote a letter some time ago and to my surprise and despite the elders manual saying that a letter is sufficient for establishing 'wrongdoing' they would not announce me as no longer a jw until i met with 2 elders to verbally acknowledge that the letter was written by me.. .
well yesterday i met with them and the meeting lasted 2 minutes.
"did you write the letter?

by Nikki collins inlooking for ones in my area.

Flashback: Samuel Herd/Ashland Avenue Chicago
by Phaedra inmust have been mid to late 1970s.. it was when they still published the speakers' names on the light-blue circuit assembly programs.. i was a child sitting in the audience at ashland avenue's circuit assembly venue.
i loved that place with it's own basement cafeteria and baptism pool with a big jesus getting baptized mural behind it.. samuel herd was giving the talk.
my child self could only remember my father pointing him out on the program.

I went to Ashland Ave in Chicago from 1980 to 1988...it was replaced with Romeoville, and I remember my first CA in it in Feb 1989.
I also remember Sam Herd was the DO in the early 80s. Remember going to Hawthorne for those?

I think it would also depend how 'important' you are socially, etc. If you're like me, I have no family or friends in my now 14+ year new home location.
Seeing as I've not gone to a meeting in over a year and a half, no one has bothered with me.

A weird nut funny voice in the JW dramas
by HowTheBibleWasCreated inmany who have been a jw since the 70- 80s remember the jw dramas coming out yearly.. today they are movies but to the topic.... many of the voice actors are the same.. one however is plain odd.. lets list his roles as i remember:.

Or how about this one -- "Heeeyyyyyyy LOT! Where are the men that came into you tonite? Bring them out to us, that we may have INTERCOURSE with them hehehehehehe...."
I believe the Lot drama was around 1988. I remember it at the then District convention. My mom even thought it was weird, and I just kinda laughed.
That dude with that voice was kinda like the "larger-than-life" bad guy...
