That reminds me of an experience in a previous congregation. We were out in service, and one of the brothers joked about slipping a dollar bill into one of the magazines so that the householder would see it and take the magazines. It was one of those days that no one was taking any literature.

Yes, I was regular at meetings. That was a requirement for me prior to handling sound, getting to be a ministerial servant, etc.
I often wondered why we went out in service every Saturday morning, but almost like clockwork stopped at noon. We were told that the preaching work was lifesaving work and meant life or death to everyone. So were all the meetings really necessary? Just because the Scriptures say not to forsake the gathering of yourselves together, does that mean that Watchtower could dictate when, where and how often we were required to attend? And why stop service at noon on Saturdays?
I stopped the whole routine about 5+ years ago when I realized all of it was a waste of my time and effort.

Do the old boys on the GB actually report their field service hours?
by eyeslice inthis came to mind as my 71 year old wife got up at 6:30 to drive 1.1/4 hours to meet the field ministry group.
we live a long way from the kingdom hall and the traffic is horrendous where we live!.
somehow, i doubt the good old boys do much themselves.

I remember being watched closely for reaching the “national average” of 10+ hours monthly as I was considered for an MS position. Okay, this was around 1984, but my point is that once someone reaches MS or elder or even higher up, no one seems to question how many hours they have in the ministry, possibly because of their other responsibilities. So I think a lot of rank & file wonder about the GB members in this regard, but no one is allowed to question them.

When it comes to "we must be ready to obey whether....it
by nowwhat? ini believe the the organization will tell it's members to sign over their mortgages and savings to the organization.
because of the impending fall of the financial institutions and the organization is the only place where it will be safe.
this has to be the only scenario possible because obviously they won't do a jonestown and where could 8 million flee to?

Yes, they could put their twist on Matt. 15:5 and Mark 7:11 - a gift dedicated to God. Make the people feel holy for “dedicating their homes to God”.

One of the group topics on this forum is “politics and current affairs”. I’m not sure how to enforce it, but I think that political discussions should stay under that topic heading.

Covid19 "Suggestions" (aka rules)
by Huxley1979 inso a co just said in his talk yesterday that anyone that doesn't follow the branch's covid19 "suggestions" is disobedient and the type of person that won't survive armageddon.
didn't the letter say that each head of household would choose for himself how to apply the "suggestions"?.
the funny thing is there are other countries where none of these "suggestions" have been given..

You can tell your CO that we were told to only accept things in print in the Watchtower. Then ask where in the Watchtower that is stated.

An old JW friend got back to me ,Phillipine Convention experience and my reply.
by smiddy3 inthis link had to do with the experience that was given by a young witness pioneer in the phillipines convention and her take was on return to jehovah .. an old time friend from the past sent me this link a couple of weeks ago trying to encourage me to come back to the religion and asked me what i thought of it ?.
i said i would if she could reply to my 2 questions first fair enough ?
so far i haven`t heard back from her and i will let you know if and when i do.. the 2 questions i asked her was to do with jehovah`s name and the christian greek scriptures ,especially the ki publication the wt brought out ,the word for word greek to english that didn`t have an equivalent greek word for jehovah .. and the other one was to do with the charge that was given to christians ,followers of jc to witness about jesus with over 20 such scriptures and not one saying anything about being a witness for jehovah anywhere in the nt.. over the years she has always still kept in touch, a little bit eccentric and we had a lot to do with her family and mine back in the day when we were all believers .. .and she is not backward in coming forward about having a go at the elders who she doesn`t agree with .. at the time i looked at the link and have posted somewhere else about it on this forum and mentioned i didn`t see anything about "returning to jehovah" in it .. anyway this was a few weeks ago and i was still waiting to hear from her..today we got mail from her ,,slow mail ,even though we have each others e-mail address .and in the envelope was only the wt "return to jehovah " and inside a $50 note.?.
