hi WhyNow2000, like you I'm not only a newbie but I also attend college. I deal with the shunning by sticking close to those in my congregation who support me although there are very few of them. My major wasn't influenced by my belliefs however the hardships I underwent on account of some (not all) of the friends did influence me to attend college.Because my family (none of whom are witnesses) is unloving towards me(even before I became a JW), having loving and supportive sisters and brothers mean alot to me not to mention the wealth of Knowledge I obtained from studying with them . Because of that I have a close relationship with Jehovah and Jesus because I know what they expect of me.

Education =Looser Ignorance=Winner
by WhyNow2000 ini attended college during late 80's and early 90's when university was a taboo, bad karma, unchristian, bad example...how could you do that.
i endured myriads of encouragements to lure me away from materialism.
when i moved to another congregation, i learned to downplay my full fledged student status and in silence i finished my school.. how many of you went to universities when you were an active jw?

JW attitudes on women - why beneficial
by tergiversator inmy secret wish, when i was about 10 years old and we were going through the revelation book for the second time, was that one day we would show up at the book study and all the baptized brothers would be missing and they would let me read.
i was pretty sure that i wouldn't mangle words like thyatira and laodicea nearly as badly as some of the poor brothers they roped into reading at times, who looked like they were being tortured during particularly difficult lessons.. i liked to read, i thought.
my older brother got to read a lot, even when he wasn't baptized.

Rob I'm a newbie to this site too welcome!!!! I have a few questions:
1) I've been meaning to use something natural to cleanse my insides (particularly my intestines) even though I'm on a high- fiber low- fat diet. And if memory serves me right I think lactobacillus capsules can be used, but the thing is I'm allergic to any food containing lactose.2)Also do you know of any natural calcium supplements that I can take along with my multivitamin tablet.
3) Also do you know whether it's better to take multivitamins in the solid form (capsules, tablets) or liquid form. -

Assemblies...conventions...special days...
by NikL inthere is a phenomenon in dub dom that i have always hated.
the circuit/district convention.. people will spend hard earned money, use up any vacation they may have to travel to a city they don't really have any particular reason to see to sit for entire days and listen to the same b.s.
they could sit and listen to at the meetings in their home kingdom hall.

Latte, I too found some of the expirences relayed on the platform some what fake. This was because they always viewed things in black and white and almost never showed the gray. At the assemblies/conventions they're always portraying a family that is having problems because of wanting to live in excess but never show the family that has problems because of the lack of love in the congregation they're in or lack of love and understanding from the elders. If alot of these friends and elders showed more love and respect then there would be far less problems and strains on the families.

Watching these shows brought me way back to when my biggest worries of the day was missing an episode of silver spoons. On Different Strokes they showed Janet Jackson when she used to be a teenager and now she has grown up to be an adult like the rest of us.My favorites shows growing up were Silver Spoons, Different Strokes, Night Rider, The A-team and She-ra.
Anyone care to stroll down memory lane with me and list any of the favorite shows they watched growing up? Or any of the episodes they saw on the Eighties Marathon they're having on Nickelodeon this week? -

Question #3 "What will you say?"
by ozziepost inall irregular and inactive publishers will be pleased with the heartwarming news that april will see a special campaign by the elders to encourage you.
yes, don't faint, it must be true because the april kingdom ministry says so.
in fact, so strong is the forecasted encouragement, that it states on paragraph 25 of the insert article:.

I agree it's like I said on another board alot of times it comes down to politics. When a brother gave a talk about helping some of the friends out with getting a ride to and from the meetings these brothers reminded me of how some hospitals are careless with following policies but as soon at JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Organizations) comes in they even do the obvious like polishing the floors and fixing broken medical equipment in a timely fashion. If only the society put just as much emphasis on promoting brotherly love as they do in promoting hypocrisy!!
